Coffee for you

Happy Wednesday one and all!  Kristina H. here to share today's bit of crafty inspiration.  I have a coffee (or cocoa if you prefer) themed card to share with you today.

I wanted to try a different shaped card this time around and had the perfect die in mind!  I used Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Hexagon die set.  To create the base I pulled out the largest die.  I folded a white card base into a square just a little bit larger than the die.  I lined up the die at the top so the top cutting line hung over the edge.  This way it wouldn't cut through but leave the fold attached at the top so I would have a cardbase instead of two separate pieces.  I did run this through my BigKick a couple times to make sure it cut all the way.

Next I used the same die to cut out the autumn themed cardstock.  I went around all of the edges with a light brown ink to give it a bit of a distressed look.  I skipped down three sizes of hexagons to cut out the grayish piece of paper.  I glued both pieces onto the hexagon cardbase.

I cut out the cup using the Cup of Cocoa die from Frantic Stamper Inc.  I know it says cocoa but you can use it for just about any warm beverage you want.  In my case, I decided it was coffee!   I also wanted to show that you can add lots of color and dimension to die cut pieces.  I colored up the cup using Copic markers - Y21, Y23, Y26 and Y28.  The whip cream is colored with E40, E41 and E42.  The little bit of coffee that peeks out is colored with E34 and E39.  I did add touches of Nuvo Aqua Shimmer markers to both of the pieces.  Mica Gold on the cup and Glitter Gloss on the whip cream.  The set includes a little snowflake for the cup but I am making an autumn card so I needed something different.   The smallest leaf from Lawn Fawn's Small Stitched Leaves fit the bill!  I cut it out using another piece of coordinating patterned paper.

Now on to the sentiment.  This lovely For You is from Lawn Fawn.  I love the larger sized scripty sentiments that they have in their line!  I cut it out four times from a pale yellow card stock.  I sponged brown ink onto the piece that was going to be on top.  I felt it made the yellow match a bit better.  I glued all of the for you pieces together then added it to the card along with the gold cup.  I didn't use any foam tape for the cup as I wanted the sentiment dies to stand out more.

For the finishing touches I used gold colored gems from my stash.  I hope you enjoyed today's project!
