Sending Happy Thoughts

As much as I love the 'holidays'
it sure seems good to make just 'ordinary' cards again..
but I do love those Christmas dies I was able to use...so fun!

But today I have another fun die I was just 'itching' to try!
Frantic Stampers Tumbling Blocks.
I cut it twice, once from green card stock
and a second time from blue card stock.
You can achieve many different designs with this die
by using a variety of colors and arrangements...
making this a very fun die to work with!.

I adhered the blue frame over a piece of polka dot designer paper,
then used the cut out pieces from the green card stock
to 'piece in' where I wanted them.

I stamped a Flourish's stamp with SU Night of Navy,
then cut it out with Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles.

For a bit of elegance, I added a bow made from
Really Reasonable Ribbon
topped with a Rose and a few navy pearls.

Hey, hello!

Hello to you on this first Monday after Christmas!   I hope you all had a lovely holiday and will continue to enjoy the beautiful season right into the new year.   I love it when things settle down after Christmas.   The world outside my door seems to be a bit frenzied the closer it gets to Christmas.   More traffic, stores crowded.   Even the holiday light displays seem to blink brighter and faster.   Saturday was so quiet on the streets.   Amazing.

I made today’s cards in that busy week leading up to Christmas when, more than anything, I needed the peace and quiet of clean and simple.  I can’t settle on any one style.  I love them all.  I sat down with two stamp sets, two die sets, one designer paper pad, kept to a theme, and started creating.   The first in blue with the critters stamped in Charcoal Color Box chalk ink:

The stamp sets are new to me, Inkadinkado “Cats” and “Dogs”.   I couldn’t decide which to use first, so I put the two together and love how they paired up, especially with my Paper Smooches Hello Words for the sentiments.   Fabulous, fun script on these with five dies in the set.  I’ve also used Paper Smooches Hearts – a practical set of five hearts plus a heart border.   Very versatile and useful.   The next card is in brown with the critters stamped in Chestnut Roan chalk ink:

The image panels are popped up. The die cuts are layered for dimension – designer paper onto white, then onto a darker cut for shadowing. The designer paper is Simple Stories Snap Color Vibe. Finally, I’m back to Charcoal chalk ink again, this time with pink:

I can’t wait to see what everyone’s stamping now that Christmas is over.   Just a reminder to check the DRU Challenge Blog, too.  There’s always a challenge and a chance to win!   See you again soon!

One Little Baby

Merry Christmas Eve to you!!
Celebrating Christmas is all about a baby being born!
It just so happens that at Dies R Us a new baby boy
was born to the Dies R Us family as well!
Being a mother to a son born in December I know how
special it is to have a December baby...the best Christmas present ever!!

I decided to make a baby card to celebrate the occasion!
I used one of my very favorite embossing folders,
Quilt Blocks by Darice .

I embossed two panels, one in white and one in blue.
I cut the blue panel apart and paper pieced every other
quilt square blue.

A bit of rick rack was added to slightly separate the squares.

I stamped my sentiment onto Spellbinders Lace Hearts.
These are no longer available here, but if you just type
in the word 'hearts' in the search column,
eight pages of hearts will appear...wow!!

I used Impression Obsession Sailboats,
cutting it 3 times.
Once from a white craft foam to build on,
once from a blue paper and once from a striped,
then it was all paper pieced  together.

To finish, I simply added a few blue sequins for a bit of 'bling'!

Don't forget to visit our 'sister' blog which is our Dies R Us challenge blog
and full of inspiration as well as a challenge for 'you' to join in
and a chance to win a prize!

Have a very Merry  Christmas!!

Celebrate!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Can you believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve?  Time rushes past faster & faster every year!  By now, I'm sure everyone is busy doing last minute things to get ready for the big day & you may not have a lot of time to work on your cards.  If you still need a quick card for that someone special, this is an easy one to create. The digi is from Sassy Cheryl and colors quickly.  I used only 3 dies:  Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Oval Stackables, Poppy Stamps Holiday Winterberries & Memory box Stitched Star Layers.  If you are pressed for time, you could go with the stitched oval & still have a darling card.

Since this is my last post before Christmas, I want to thank everyone for stopping by each week and to wish you all the most blessed of holidays!  MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Anniversary Wreath

Surprise, I do not have a Christmas card today. I have a request for four anniversary cards for a friend’s children so I’m starting on those with a new-to-me stamp by Hero Arts called “Flower Wreath”.   The card features pretty die cuts and easy Copic coloring with the wreath cut out and popped up and pearls courtesy of an Ice White Viva Décor pearl pen.

Any dies that look like a garden are okay by me, which is why I’m loving my Impression Obsession Fancy Cut Out Border and Poppystamps Dianna Border.   To emphasize the “love” aspect of this card I dangled some Memory Box Precious Hearts from the top of the wreath.    Precious Hearts is a two-die set.   I simply cut both and put them together.  Aren’t they cute?   The Dianna Border and Precious Hearts were colored with Copics.

The sentiment is from the retired Stampin’ Up! “Wonderful Words”.  I never give up a sentiment set, and just look how pretty it still is after all these years.

I don't have much in the way of anniversary sentiments and most of the ones I do have are smallish, so inside I used framing to make a small sentiment look bigger on this 5 1/2" square card.  Enter one of my most frequently used die sets,  Impression Obsession Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames:

I dangled the smaller of the hearts with another faux pearl in the center of the bow.  All finished and so much fun!

Don’t forget to check the Challenge Blog to see what’s up and how you can win Dies R Us $$.  Have a happy day!

Bringing Home The Tree

Hi there!
Do you put up a real tree?
And, if you do, do you go and cut it yourself?

We put a real tree up every year.
It is fresh cut the day we go and I always think
the tree is saying either 'pick me, pick me'
or 'not me, not me'...lol!

This card represents the "bringing home the tree' day!
Snow falling, tree in the back, deer beside the road,
nothing more fun that that!

For my card I used the dies listed below....
and how fun is that old truck....
wow, so many uses for it!

Visit us here Monday -  Friday for fresh new ideas using all the dies

Sharing Love at Christmas!

Hello, friends!

The closer it gets to Christmas, the more love you feel in the air!  And this little snowman is definitely feeling it!  With his arms around the puppy and outstretched to welcome the birds, he is ready to share his love! This cute digi is from Sassy Cheryl and one of my favorites.  Her snowmen are not only adorable, but quick to color so your cards will be done in a snap!  By adding only 2 dies to this image, you have a handmade Christmas card you can give with pride.  The two dies I used were Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Square Stackables and Memory Box Dancing Snowflake Frame.  Since the snowflake frame is rectangular in shape, I decided to cut it in half & use it for my bottom frame.  Don't be afraid to use just portions of your dies!  You will be amazed at the many versions you can create doing this!

Christmas is just around the corner, but you still have time to pick up some amazing dies to create your own cards! And I don't know about you, but I can't think of anything better than a gift card to Dies R Us under the tree!

A new challenge just began yesterday at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog!  Head over there & you may be the lucky winner of your own gift card & you won't have to wait for Santa!

See you next week!

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

OMG!  What am I saying???   LOL!
Hello Everyone!
Darlene with you today sharing a fun and easy card creation for your inspiration!
WOW! Time is zipping right along!

The dies I have used on today's card are:

I love this Sue Wilson die set and had a lot of fun creating with it.
There are actually FOUR different dies in this set which made it possible for me to add a 'snowy spotted' background to my snowflake panel vs having to just go with the white background .
I also had a couple of the smaller white snowflakes laying on my desk from a previous project where I had die cut the FABULOUS Impression Obsession large snowflake and thought they'd add nice dimension but placing them atop the snowflakes in my die cut.  A couple sequins that were also laying on the table and VIOLA! ... card complete!  LOVE THAT!

Please be sure to check out our Dies R Us Store ...
and of course here at the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.

I have no doubt you will find fabulous product, fun times and awesome inspiration if you do!!

B is for Baby

Hello and welcome to Monday!  It’s Leslie here today for a little Dies R Us inspiration.   Babies don’t stop for Christmas, do they?   I had the great pleasure and infinite FUN this month of making a baby card to celebrate a new arrival, so that’s what I’m here to share today.  First, the card:

Bees buzzing over the card front, a popped up frame, a banner cut from designer paper and decorated with tiny flowers. . .  Everything I used is listed in the recipe at the end of this post, but I’ll share the list of dies here:

And the inside:

I cut the bee bodies again from the yellow designer paper to decorate the inside.  Also used one of the tiny hearts that dropped out of the banner when I cut it – see it there at the end of the bee’s flight trail.  The sentiment was colored directly on the rubber with individual markers.

We start a new challenge tomorrow on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  The entries are always so fabulous and inspiring and I’d love to see yours there, as well.  You might win!  Have a good day and a beautiful Christmas season!

Stamps:  Retired Stampin’ Up! “Just B” (front), Darcie’s “Play Time” (inside)  Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Apricot Bazzill, heavy vellum, Fiskars Heidi Grace baby designer paper Ink (front):  Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery, Copic YG61 to color frame   Ink (inside senti): SU! markers Old Olive, Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie   Accessories:  Pearls, Scotch brand foam mounting tape  Dies:  As listed above

A baby for Christmas . . .

. . . what a beautiful gift!!!

Hello Everyone!
Darlene with you today!
WOW!  Time is flying and I have SO MUCH to get done before Christmas morning!
How about you?  Are you ready yet?  LOL

I just learned that a new baby is expected anytime now for someone I know (from a distance) and thought it would be nice to surprise him & his wife with a cute card of congratulations.  So, here's what I came up with.

They don't know if they're having a boy or a girl so I stayed with a generic color palette.

The dies I used today are:
Spellbinder Shapeabilities 'Playtime' (S4-261)
Frantic Stamper 'Baby Elephant' (FRA9684)
Memory Box 'Baby Bottles' (98867)

The small baby bottle was popped up and I added Diamond Stickles inside a few of the hearts for added sparkle.  My background paper is from Crafty Secrets and the lace tape is Jambo (J&Bobbin).  Easy peasy but adorable I think!

Be sure to pop over to the Dies R Us store and check out all the fabulous dies available.  New companies & dies added all the time!  You'll also want to be sure and sign up for our Newsletter so you don't miss out on the amazing end of year sales going on right now.

Don't forget to come join in the Dies R Us Challenges.  A new themed challenge is offered on the 1st and 15th of each month.  YOU could be the next winner of a Dies R Us store voucher!  So whatcha waiting for??

Happy Holidays

We are getting closer and closer to
'The Big Day"....
do you have all your Christmas cards made yet??
There is still plenty of time...so get busy!!

The card I have to show you today was 'built'
entirely around the snippet of paper you see on the left!

I added a pretty edge to the side of it (listed below),
embossed the other side and went from there.

Next came the snowflake doily, so prettily detailed.

The bird is a Stampendous stamp colored with Copics,
then cut out with a stitched circle.

I cut the holly from a scrap piece and also from a white craft foam,
which gives it a lot of dimension on the card.
I added a few cranberry pearls  and to finish I added a
pretty bow using RRR ribbon.

Here are the dies I used:
Impression Obsession Border Duo 2
Cheery Lynn Designs Holly Flourish
Wild Rose Studio Snow Doily (currently out of stock)

Don't forget to visit our challenge blog and enter
for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store.
And remember.... dies make a great Christmas gift...want my list..lol??

Thanks for visiting with me today!

Double Value!

Hello, again!

Well, the countdown is definitely on & it won't be long before Christmas is here!  Last week, I shared a feminine birthday card with you & this week, I am sharing a masculine birthday card.  No matter what the holiday, we still need birthday cards for those dear to us.  I thought a quick & easy country themed card would be perfect for this time of the year.  And the best part is this same design also makes a gorgeous Christmas card! Double value for your money!!

The dies I used for this great birthday card are all from Memory Box!  I used Memory Box Deer Trio, Memory Box Grand Forest Archway & Memory Box Cross Stitched Frame Borders.

By adding just one more die (Cheery Lynn Merry Christmas) and cutting these dies in white, you can create a gorgeous Christmas card!  I wish you could see the beautiful glitter paper as it is even more beautiful in person!

Don't forget to check out the Dies R Us Challenge Blog!  You could be the winner of a gift voucher! And don't forget to tell Santa that he could make you deliriously happy with a gift card to the Dies R Us Store! I can't think of anything better than that!

Blue (and White) Christmas

Hello Friends!
Darlene with you today!
Will you be having a White Christmas this year?
I know some of you have already experience some amazing snowfall amounts!
Here in Ohio we haven't seen much yet but hopefully there will be a LITTLE on the ground for Christmas morning (but not too much mind you!  lol)

Today my card is based it on the 'white stuff'!
Did you know there is a NEW inspiration sample shared here each day Monday through Friday?
Be sure to pop over in each day and see for yourself!

With so many beautiful holiday die cuts available at the Dies R Us store, I'm afraid you're going to be seeing MORE holiday cards from me throughout the month (possibly even into the New Year! lol)

The dies I've used today are:

These distressed corner dies are FABULOUS and there are other (besides holiday) designs available also.  You'll want to be sure and check them out ... makes a beautiful corner embellishment!

And this Impression Obsession large snowflake is one of my FAVORITES!
I love using the 'negative' of this die and you don't just get one die cut when you run it through your die cutting machine . . . you get FOUR ... how awesome is that!!!  So many options from just one die!
Here I've used the largest to frame my image by simply adhering it here and there around the front & back of my image.  What a BEAUTIFUL die ... you'll definitely want this one in your collection!

Christmas is coming FAST so I'll keep this short & sweet!

Please be sure to pop over and join in the fun at the
New challenges offered on the 1st and 15th of each month.
YOU could be the next winner of a Dies R Us gift voucher!
Hope to see you there!

A Birdie-Style Christmas

Hello!  I’m still working on my Christmas cards.  It always seems to be more fun during the actual Christmas season.  Today I have three pretty birds looking festive in their winter garden.  This is Penny Black Joyful Birds, colored with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits.  And, of course, I added a good bit of frosty sparkle with Stickles Stardust glitter glue.

JoyBirdsDec2015

I took a notion recently to figure how I could provide a decorative mat for a colored image without the usual frames or die cut layers.  Just looking for more space for the image, a certain degree of simplicity, and, you know, something different.  So I searched “borders” at Dies R Us and came up with lots of options for mixing and matching.  Today I’ve used:
Neither of these are Christmas dies, but they’re well suited to my birdies’ winter garden, and by cutting the leafy Dianna Border in gold glitter paper it adds to the air of festivity.  Simple and quick!  If any of these dies are out of stock at the time you’re reading this, please know there are many other options available.  I’ve been exploring a few, myself.

Come join us at the Challenge Blog.  You could get lucky and win a $10 gift voucher to the Dies R Us store.  The current challenge is “Christmas” and it’s on until noon Dec. 13.  Bet you’re making a Christmas card or two long about now, and maybe you’re even using die cuts on them.  That’s all it takes.  Link it up.  Someone is going to win the draw and it might as well be you!  Have a happy day!

One stary night . . .

Hello Friends!
Darlene with you today!
I started out today with just wanting something simple using the Poppystamps 'Distressed Benson Corner' as my starting point but as you can see ... it grew and grew and grew!  LOL

Here's a list of the dies I used on today's card:

As you can see, I cut the Evergreen Trio twice ... two different shades of green, then off set them to create a 'forest'.  The main country house die was cut in white, then the different pieces were cut in accent colors.  The tree background in green ... house background in goldenrod and the roofs in black.
The 'snow' was created using Marvy 'Snow Marker' which when heated puff up.

I love the layers this card ended up having ...
and to think I was originally going for CLEAN and SIMPLE!  lol
Maybe next time!

Remember you can find a WIDE RANGE of dies in the Dies R Us Store and create your own wintery scene cards such as this in no time at all!   Also be sure to sign up for the Newletter so you don't miss out on the surprise sales!

Have you joined in our challenges yet at the
A new theme is offered on the 1st and 15th of each month with one lucky winner receiving a gift voucher to the Dies R Us Store.  The lucky winner could be YOU!!   What are you waiting for?  Come join in the fun!

Lots to get done today so I'd better get busy!
Have a wonderful day and until next time . . .

Be Merry

Hi All!!
I have another Christmas card to share with you today.
Last week I showed you a pretty tree card made with
a Dee's Distinctively Christmas Tree Silhouette die and an overlay.
I mentioned that this die had 3 other overlays that could be used.

Today I am showing you  Christmas Tree No. 2 overlay.
I cut this tree from an embossed Metallic paper.

I once again used a pretty Martha Stewart background paper.
I felt the card need a bit more, so I added tiny, tiny stars using
Impression Obsession Moon and Stars die.
The stars were cut using a pretty glitter paper.

These trees are very easy and so pretty when completed.

Here is a close up of the tree.

Have a great day!

Hello, again friends!

December has rolled around and in the midst of all our holiday preparations we still need birthday cards!  Yup!  Those pesky birthdays just keep rolling by don't they?  So as a break from Christmas cards, I am sharing a fun fairy inspired birthday card today.  The digi image is from one of my favorite places "A Day for Daisies" and she is adorable!  I added just two dies to this card: Memory Box Bloomington Border & Memory Box Cross Stitched Frame Borders.

The Bloomington Border also embosses these beautiful flowers  and I have a closeup of that below.

Traditional Christmas Colors

Hello Everyone!
WOW!  Can you believe it is December 1?
Darlene with you today and I have a Christmas card to share with you that was created  in colors that are 'traditional' ... but (for me,) the design is far from traditional!
I love all the new dies that you can put together to create some amazingly beautiful creations to share with family and friends ... especially at holiday time.  We all love to see those beautiful holiday creations show up in our mailbox and I'm having fun creating some really SPECIAL cards for some really SPECIAL people!

The dies I've used on today creation are:

Spellbinder '5x7 Holly Frame' #S6-040 (sorry currently out of stock)

The largest die in the Spellbinder set creates the base for my 'picture frame' creation.
The ornament was die cut from red card stock then adhered to a scrap piece of white card stock and fussy cut around the ornament to give it a '2-tone' affect.
The white Garland Greenery was attached first.  Next, the ornament was popped up with dimensionals on top of the greenery die cuts and lastly the holly corner panel was adhered to the ornament.

To create the 'glass' panel that protects the ornament, I first die cut my Cheery Lynn Designs frame and adhered a panel of clear acetate to the back side of the frame with 2 sided tape.

Once the glitter was dry on my ornament panel I adhered my 'glass' frame on top by doubling up on the dimensional pop ups.

A few more holiday embellishments and it is ready for Mr. Postman.

Have you been over to the Dies R Us Store lately?
They have an all new look ... but same FABULOUS prices and selection!  Go check it out ... I'm SURE you'll find something you just can't live without!!

And, don't forget about our fun challenges!
In fact, a new challenge starts today at our Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  I hope you'll come join in the fun!
The theme this time around is:  CHRISTMAS
"White Christmas" ... OR ...  "Merry & Bright"

See you there!!
