A Little Bit 'Dressed' Up

This is my LAST post at the Dies R Us blog today.
Time for a new team to inspire you all...
a sad day for sure,
but as they say all good things must come to an end.
I have enjoyed working here immensely,
but on the other hand I am more then ready for a break...
thanks Dies R Us!!

I have the cutest die to show you today.
It is Frantic Stampers Tiered Gown.
What a fun die this is!
It comes with 7 different die cuts....
can't you just see all the pretty dresses with this!
A perfect die for wedding showers or a little girls birthdays!

I cut the gown from 3 different dot color papers
and the hanger from a silver metallic.

I used Impression Obsession Rectangle 6 in 1 Frames
to 'frame' the dress.

I also used another one of the frames to frame the sentiment.

The inside of the card uses some of the framed dies as well.

Make sure and visit us here Monday-Friday for more
beautiful inspiration using 'must have' dies!

Visit our 'sister' blog Dies R Us Challenges for your chance
to win a gift certificate to the Dies R Us store.

Thank you for visiting with me today!

Kick up your heels & dance!!

Happy Wednesday!!

The month is almost over and spring is just around the corner!  If that doesn't make you want to kick up your heels & dance, then maybe this darling dog from Sassy Cheryl's digi stamps will do it!  Just like I knew the minute I saw the digi that it was going into my cart, it was the same thing with the Poppy Stamps Happy Birthday Melody die!  Into my cart the minute I saw it! I'm afraid I got a little carried away....ha ha I've already done 4 different birthday cards with this puppy and this die & am still going strong!  I have posted all 4 cards on my blog if you want to check out the extra versions!  I used the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Square Stackables die on these first 2 cards (in addition to the Happy  Birthday Melody).

By changing the die you cut your image out with, you can change the whole look of a card.  The same is true for the paper you choose for your background!  Use your imagination & see what you can come up with!

Don't forget a new challenge begins on the first of the month.  Leave yourself a reminder to head over to the Dies R Us Challenge Blog to post YOUR creation and you could be the gift voucher winner at the Dies R Us Store!

This is where I usually wish you all a great week & say I will be back next week.  But next week, there will be a brand new Inspiration Team to inspire you all.  I have loved my time here & will miss it, but I will still be around & you can still visit me at my blog anytime.  I'll still be creating cards & using all the beautiful dies we all love so stop on over to see what I am up to!

Remember to always leave some time in your week to do something creative! It feeds your soul!

Thanks for your friendship,

Sherri

Flower Power

Happy Tuesday Everyone!
Darlene with you today and it's time for a new inspirational die cutting sample.
I just received a new order of dies from the Dies R Us Store and couldn't wait to play.

Something a little different for you today!
This card could be used for a variety of occasions and it came together quite quickly.
I've even been able to utilize some of my off cuts for today's creation.
LOVE when that happens.

Here's a list of dies I used today and they all happen to be Creative Expressions Sue Wilson dies:

Here's the side view.  You can see how after die cutting my designer paper panel, I positioned a scrap piece of lavender card stock behind the center cut outs so that the white flourishes would be more prominent.  I've also added an extra flower to the inside corner.  Turned out I didn't need it for the front and of course I couldn't waste it!   LOL

And, here's a peek at my flower.
By taking an extra minute to curl the edges of the petals around my flat head tweezers, this flower 'came to life'.

Please be sure to take a minute and check out all the fabulous dies available at the Dies R Us Store!  AND, don't forget to come join in the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog!  A new challenge is offered on the 1st and 15th of each month with a PRIZE VOUCHER offered to one lucky winner each challenge.  That winner could be YOU!

Till next time . . .

Thinking of You

Well, this is it, friends – my last post for Dies R Us.  I have another simple card today.  I love the dies – the large sentiment with the ivy leaves, and the birds in flight.  I wanted to do something with ink, too, so I made a watercolor wash for the background.  I wet the paper first, then brushed on turquoise and yellow inks.  Toward the upper left you can see where the turquoise blended with the yellow and turned a more aqua color.

The front of the side fold card is cut away slightly and the designer paper border is on the inside.  The Sue Wilson Thinking of You is a sizeable die and nearly fills the front of this A2 card.  I added just a bit of glitter to the ivy leaves.  Since I’m crushing on birds lately I’ve added bird dies to every recent order.  These are Memory Box Open Studio Contempo Birds.  I used the two largest birds for this card.  You can design these birds however you like – leave off the overlay, position the wings differently or leave them off altogether for a sitting bird.  I colored the birds with Copic markers and added beady eyes with a black Sakura glaze pen.

The birds are an all-in-one die, meaning they all cut at once, which is fine with me as otherwise you’d have some pretty teensy dies to work with.  Instead, you have some pretty teensy die cuts to work with.  Rather than tuck away the remaining die cuts I decided to go ahead and color and assemble them:

I forgot to lay a ruler down in the photo so you could get an idea of the size.  The smallest birds are 1/2” beak to tail, so you can imagine how tiny the wings are.  I do think they’re darling and will enjoy using them on cards.

That’s it for me!  What a fun design team this has been.  I’ve loved every minute of it.  I believe the new team starts in April and I’ll be sure to drop in and say “hello”.  I hope you will, too.  And don’t forget the Challenge Blog.  Our current “Handmade Flowers” challenge is about to wrap up, but a new challenge begins on April 1st, always with a chance to win a Dies R Us gift voucher.  Have a beautiful day!

Gingham and Poppies . . .

Happy Friday Everyone!
Are you all ready for Easter weekend?
WOW!  It's hard to believe we are about to celebrate Easter already!
Time flies when you're having fun!  LOL

Darlene with you today and I have an inspirational sample to share using some fabulous new dies from the Dies R Us Store.

What fun I had creating this card!
When I received this beautiful Wild Rose Studio 'Dancing Poppies' #WRS021 die, I wasn't real sure what I wanted to do with it so I simply die cut a sample from white card stock and started laying it down on different design papers, etc. just to get some ideas.  And since my real poppies are more of a RED color, I die cut another panel from red card stock.
I laid them both on the worktable while I looked for some different design papers and when I turned around it hit me that I liked the red flowers in behind the white flowers ... so THAT was the beginning of this creation.

Poppies remind me of being out in the country so I thought this panel of red/white gingham was appropriate.  Next I needed a panel to really make things POP so I grabbed the beautiful Sue Wilson 'Frames & Tags - Hannah' die and cut a panel from black card stock to use as the background for my poppies.  PERFECT!
Now all I needed was a touch of sparkle which I achieve with Diamond Stickles and a sentiment.  The Cheery Lynn Designs 'Happy' #B226 and 'Birthday' #B231 worked perfectly!!

Please be sure to take a minute and check out all the fabulous dies available at the Dies R Us Store!  AND, don't forget we have a Dies R Us Challenge Blog too!  A fun new challenge is offered on the 1st and 15th of each month with a PRIZE VOUCHER offered to one lucky winner each challenge.  It could be YOU!

Springtime Wishes

I must have Springtime on my mind as I have
been having fun lately making Spring cards.

My newest Spring die is so full of detail.
It is Amy Designs Spring Frame
I die cut it from white card stock,
then adhered it to a blue designer paper.
It was then fussy cut out and popped up on an embossed back ground.

I added pretty blue pearls to the flower centers.
A sentiment from Inky antics was stamped int he center.

To finish, I simply added two little butterflies
die cut from Joy! Crafts.
These are no longer available at this time,
but if you type Butterfly or Butterflies in the search box,
you will be amazed how many there are to choose from in various
designs and sizes.

Visit here Monday-Friday to lots more beautiful inspiration.

Flowers for your birthday!

Hello, friends!

It's Wednesday again, and time for my weekly post.  If you are like me, you love flowers & with the weather getting warmer each day, I am already thinking ahead to the days we will see flowers replacing the snow drifts! So to start the spring celebration, I decided a couple of birthday cards featuring the Tattered Lace Flower Cart was just what the doctor ordered!  I actually made three cards with this same die, but am only sharing 2 of them here.  If you check out my blog, you can see the third card!  For these 2 cards, I mounted the beautiful flower cart on a Spellbinders Floral Oval.  A Spellbinder Ribbon Tag for both and some flowers from the Sue Wilson Petite Peony Cluster for the floral card & I was done!  The Floral Oval is currently out of stock but you could easily use any of the dozens & dozens of beautiful oval dies you can find in the store!

Here is my favorite of the first two cards.  I really liked the clean lines of the black & white!

This was another version I created with some cute floral background paper.  This version is a bit more "girly" than the first and perfect for lots of my friends who are real flower lovers.
Be sure you check out the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  There is still time to enter the current challenge & win a gift voucher to the store!

See you again next week with something fun!  Until then, have a fabulous week!

Hello . . .

 Happy Tuesday Everyone!
Darlene with you today to share a new inspirational card sample!
I've received some new dies in the mail ... YAY!!
So this card is designed from dies ONLY ... no stamps or designer paper today!

(inside peek)
I'm so happy with the outcome!
What do YOU think?
The dies I have used today are:
and

On my card front, I die cut the daisies from white card stock then colored the flowers/stems with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  For the inside panel, I die cut them out of bright yellow card stock but laid the bottom portion of the die off the cardstock to create 'freestanding' stems.

The butterflies are actually linked together on the die but I carefully snipped them apart so I could position them in two different places on my card front.  (Remember to 'think outside the box' when using your die cuts.)

Just for You

Happy Monday!  Today I have a little garden scene just for you.  I love birds and birdhouses and anything to do with the garden, so I put this card together for my Dies R Us post today.  There’s quite a variety of birds all hanging out together.  They’ve put aside their differences to enjoy a beautiful spring day.  I stamped these Inkadinkado birds on 110 lb Neenah Classic White and colored with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits.  The faint blue shading around the birds was done with soft chalks, and the birdhouses and flowers were colored with Copic markers.

Here’s my die list:

After I cut the oval frame I embossed with an older Cuttlebug Floral Fantasy embossing folder.  The flower centers are dotted with Stickles Black Diamond glitter.  All very fun!

Come back and visit tomorrow and every day, won't you.  You probably noticed there was a DT call up which was to be wrapped up by the 19th of this month (Saturday).  Yes, this is my last month with Dies R Us, but certainly not the last time I’ll be using dies.  Sheesh, I thought I loved them before, but I’ve learned to love them even more during my time with Dies R Us.  We’ve got a Handmade Flowers Challenge going on, too.  Be sure and play along for a chance to win a $10 Dies R Us gift voucher.  There are a lot of dies available for $10 or less, or use it toward a larger order.  Enjoy your day!

Get Well Soon

Happy Friday Everyone!
WOW!  Another weekend upon us and it's
time for a new inspiration sample here at the

A few week's ago team mate Diane shared a beautiful creation using the gorgeous Memory Box 'Reverse Butterfly Collage' die set and of course I just had to run right over to the Dies R Us store and purchase one for myself.  You can see Diane's card creation HERE and on her personal blog for more details HERE.

What do you think?  Isn't this die beautiful?
And makes a gorgeous card in no time at all ... we all like that aspect!

I die cut the front panel from black card stock and added a blue panel behind it.  My sentiment is the Impression Obsession die 'Get Well Soon' #DIE382.  Some faux stitching and this card is ready to mail.

I hope you will take a minute and check out all the fabulous dies available at the Dies R Us Store!  AND, don't forget we have a Dies R Us Challenge Blog too!  A fun new challenge is offered on the 1st and 15th of each month with a PRIZE VOUCHER offered to one lucky winner each challenge.  It could be YOU!

Thinking of You

Hi there!

Today I had fun using all scraps from my scrap bags
and a couple of fun dies from the Dies R Us store!

I cut three 4 1/4" square white card bases and added a
pretty and very detailed butterfly to each using
and a few colorful scrap designer papers and card stocks.
Now this die is called small, but it is pretty good sized,
as you can see.

Also a little hint to cut such intricate and detailed dies,
is to use a piece of wax paper in-between the die and papers.
I also always use a shim with mine, but that totally depends
on 'your' machine.

I added a sentiment to Cheery Lynn Designs Horizons Fishtail Banners

These were pretty easy to put together
and I just love all the detail in the butterflies!

Stop by here Monday-Friday for more great inspiration from the Design Team.

When our memories become treasures....

Hello, everyone!

Although I would much rather think of spring flowers this time of the year, sadly, we all have those times when we have to think of other things instead.   Nobody likes making a sympathy card, myself included.  But for those times I do need one, I try to make it just as beautiful as possible.  And I know that anyone receiving a handmade sympathy card knows that a lot of love went into it's creation.  I just got the Poppy Stamps Hampstead Corner the other day & I knew I wanted to use it on my card. I decided to cut 4 of them & use them to frame my sentiment.  I wanted the sentiment to be special too, so after I stamped it, I cut it out with Spellbinders Floral Ovals.  This die is currently out of stock, but you could easily use any of dozens of beautiful dies in the store instead.  This is the front of my card.

And this is the inside.  I carried the beautiful corner to the inside as well.

I am SO in love with this Hampstead Corner die!  I can see it on so many other cards besides a sympathy card.  No matter how many beautiful stamps you have, you just can't create this degree of gorgeous unless you have a die! Be sure you head on over to the Dies R Us Store to check out the latest additions!

And don't forget that a new challenge just began yesterday on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog!  Play along & you could be the winner of a gift voucher to the store!  How awesome would that be!!

Until next week, have a wonderful week and be sure you spend at least one day creating something beautiful! It will do wonders for your attitude!

With Deepest Sympathy

Happy Tuesday Everyone!
Welcome back!  Darlene with you today!
I'm excited to share a new inspiration sample with you here at the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.

So many times we need a sympathy card quickly
and by using just two beautiful die sets from the Dies R Us store,
my card was created and ready to mail in 15 minutes time.

The two dies I've used today are:
and

You would have to agree ... it really doesn't get much easier than this and although we can't do much to help ease their grief, we can let them know we are thinking of them with a beautiful card such as this.

Daisy Hello

Hello, friends!  One of the nice things about cards that utilize all or mostly all die cuts is that they’re relatively quick and anyone can make them, no coloring skills required.  Well, I do love to color, but I’ve learned to love working with dies, as well, and as my collection has grown, so has the fun.  Today, for my Dies R Us post, I’ve framed some glittery daisies, added a “hello” and ribbon, and called it done in no time at all.

First, my die list:
Before I cut the daisies I adhered white cardstock to a bit of Scor-Tape sheet.  Glued the back side of the daisy die cut to pretty designer paper, laid the frame over it and trimmed the designer paper flush with the frame.  Mounted that on a cardstock panel.  Peeled the Scor-Tape off the surface of the daisies and then sprinkled with micro-fine glitter.  The micro-fine glitter has a very soft look to it, but still very glittery.  Hard to capture this particular glitter in a photo, so it may be more apparent if you click for a close up.  The ribbon is looped and tied in the center with silver thread.  This type of bow doesn’t leave much of a knot, but I still settled it into a 1/4” punched hole to eliminate any bulk.  Held secure with a spot of Aleene’s Tacky Glue.

After I mounted the frame onto the card base with foam mounting tape I cut the “hello” three times and layered it, not only to give it more dimension, but to sturdy it up since part of it is hanging off the edge of the frame.

And that’s it!  Visit my friends here every weekday for more ideas, and be sure and check the DRU Challenge Blog tomorrow for the start of another new challenge.  Enjoy your day!

Birds of a Feather . . .

. . . Stitch Together!

Happy Friday Everyone!
Time for a new inspiration sample here at the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.

Darlene with you today . . .
I was commissioned to creation a group of cards that have birds, tea cups and stitching incorporated into the design.  I love the combination of elements required but knew immediately I wanted to use some of my gorgeous new Sue Wilson dies to 'bring it all together' and make them super pretty!

My image is an Etsy purchase which I die cut using the Spellbinder Celebrations 'Pierced Rectangles' #SCD-012 set.  I'm sorry to say this set is no longer available in the Dies R Us store.

The edge die cut I used is Sue Wilson 'Mini Gemini Die - Ara' # CED4413 and the die cut used to adorn the top and bottom of my image is another Sue Wilson die set ... 'Configurations - Swirly Lace Edger' #CED6405.  I have used the corner die from this set.

By simply adding a few sequins and rub on stitching  ... VIOLA! my card is complete and beautiful!

Hoppy Easter

Welcome!!
Today is my first Easter card for this year!
There are so many dies to be found at the Dies R Us online store for Easter
and I have a few fun ones to show you.
However, keep in mind,
lots of the Easter dies can be used year round....
bunnies and chicks make great baby and children cards!

My first thought was a bit of 'Easter grass".
A great choice is Impression Obsession Grass Border
(slightly different from what I have used).
Make sure and type in the word 'GRASS' in the search button
and there are several choices!

I placed three bunnies in the grass,
cut from Frantic Stamper Easter Icons.
Notice the bow on the basket?
That die is part of the Easter Icons set!!

Speaking of the basket, it is a Memory Box die
that is no longer available at the store,
but if your type in "BASKET
you will have a beautiful selection to choose from!
Poppystamps Country Baskets is a great choice
and it comes in two sizes for one price!!

I filled my basket with grass from Impression Obsession Mini Bunnies set.
The grass is included with the bunny dies and can be cut separate.
I also added Memory Box Baby Chicks to the basket.
These were cut with a 'velour' paper and are 'fuzzy' in 'real life'.

To finish I simply stamped my sentiment on a scrap piece
then cut it out using Impression Obsession Clouds.

I hope you have enjoyed my fun card today!

Join us in our challenge blog for a chance to win a gift certificate
to the store, plus see all the Design Inspiration there as well!!

Have a great day and thank you for stopping by!

Butterflies and Flowers

Happy Tuesday Dies R Us Friends!

Darlene with you today to share another fun creation designed using dies from our Dies R Us Store.  Today it's all about pretty papers, teeny flowers, butterflies and birthdays.

My card started with scraps of paper & ribbon for the background ...
THEN I needed to 'fill' the center panel with something pretty!
Which meant it was time to look through my word dies and
here's what came together for me today!

With die cuts this intricate and beautiful ... you really don't need much more!

The dies I've used today are:

A little touch of satin ribbon and teeny tiny flowers stamped here and there and today's card was complete.

Here's a peek at the inside ...

I had a small scrap of the front panel designer paper left so I decided to die cut another set of butterflies for the inside.  However, the stitching that cuts on the remaining panel is so pretty ... it could also be used in this manner.  (Which I intend to do on a different card creation! )

Remember to look at your dies closely to see what OTHER ways they can be used besides just the image that is cut out.  I just love it when you can find multiple uses for your crafting goodies.

A Springtime Hello!

Hello, friends!  It's beginning to look a lot like spring around my house.  It may be rainy, but everything's budding and the new greens are as bright as neon lights shining through the raindrops.  I felt like making something simple, clean, and cheerful to celebrate a fresh, new start.

My clean spring green is an old Stampin’ Up! color called Gable Green.  Paired that with a cool blue and happy yellow on lots of crisp white.  I even managed to work in a little border of designer paper with some matching colors.  The sentiment is an old one from The Uptown Design Company.

The leafy branch is Poppystamps Sylvan Sprig.  It was on my wishlist at Dies R Us and out of stock when I first spied it.  But all good things come to those who wait, so it eventually made it into my cart.  And isn’t this plump little bird the sweetest thing?  It sits so prettily on the sprig.  The bird is Elizabeth Craft Birds.  Check out the link to see what you get with the birds set.  So adorable and it gives you multiple design possibilities.  Love this one!

I hope you can join us on the Challenge Blog when you have a few moments to spare.  Every two weeks there's another chance to win!  Thanks for dropping in today!

Get Well Soon

Hello Dies R Us Friends!
Darlene with you today to share a new die cutting sample for your inspiration!  Even though our winter season here in Ohio, USA has been a mild one, I hear of more & more people who are sick and/or in the hospital with one ailment or another.  So today, I've made a card that will go directly into the mailbox in hopes of lifting the spirits of a friend that is ill.

The dies I've used are:

There are actually FIVE cute little critters with this Cheery Lynn Designs die!  Besides the owl and squirrel which I have used on today's card, it also die cuts a bunny, chipmunk and skunk!  Yep ... a skunk!  lol  I die cut it in white then colored my owl and squirrel with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

I really enjoy the versatility of some dies ... like this Memory Box sentiment die.  You can die cut it and use it as I have done above ... or ...
color the part(s) that pop out and put them back in place.  A totally different look!   Be sure to look at all your options when die cutting ... you'll be pleasantly surprised when you 'think outside the box'!

The Beauty Of A Garden

I am a bit excited about this card I am going to
show you today.
I absolutely love it
and I could sit and use this die all day!

It is from Memory Box and called Reverse Butterfly Collage.
It is the most perfect die to use up all those scraps!

I cut it on a 110# white card stock,
then mounted it on a large scrap piece,
allowing the edges to show.
I liked that added bit of color and pattern around the edge!

I stamped the sentiment from a Flourish's Garden Dreams set
using SU Brilliant Blue Ink.

A bit of a green bling strip was added to each butterfly.
That's it...easy peasy, and oh so pretty!!!

Visit us here Monday - Friday for more inspiration
using the dies carried in the store.

Visit our 'sister' Dies R Us Challenge blog for a chance to win
a voucher to the store, just by entering YOUR project into  our challenge!

Thank you for visiting with me today!

Bunny in the flowers!

Hi, friends!

The hunt for the perfect Easter card continues!  If you are like me, you have a lot of bunny stamps, bunny dies, bunny paper....bunnies just seem to be the perfect answer to an Easter card.  This is one of my favorite digi stamps & one I use every year.  The stamp is from Angel's Landing.  I found the perfect die for it among my Joy Craft dies.  These dies are not stocked regularly but we offer them periodically so you will have to be sure you are signed up for all of our newsletters!  The die I used was Joy Craft Noor Lattice Rectangle 6002/0146.  If you don't want to wait for our next offering of this one, there are dozens & dozens of beautiful dies that would work just as well.

The wonderful thing about Dies R Us is that not only do they carry more dies than anyone else, they also have offerings of dies that they don't carry on a daily basis as well!  You have the best of both worlds!

Head on over to the store now & you will see exactly what I am talking about!

See you next week!  Happy Crafting!

Sympathy

Happy Tuesday Everyone!
Darlene with you today to share a new inspiration sample.

As much as I hate to admit it, I've reached the
age where I find myself in need of more and more sympathy cards.
So today I thought I'd work on a couple to have on hand.

With all the gorgeous dies available at the Dies R Us Store, you can make a card in a matter of minutes.  Today I'm utilizing some of my scraps which I've turned into background panels to showcase this gorgeous die set called  'Hanna' by Creative Expressions - Sue Wilson.
There are so many things you can do with a set like this.  There are four dies in this particular set and I've actually used the oval cutting die from the center to create my panel for the stamped sentiment.  A little sponging around the outside edge helps to soften it a bit.

A peek at the inside of my card reveals the use of the hearts that are a part of the decorative front panel die which pop out when die cut.  You can ALWAYS use hearts somewhere on a card ... I just didn't have the 'heart' to throw them away with the rest of the cut out scraps.

Till next time . . .
