Celebrate!

Welcome back crafting friends. Lena here today to share a birthday card with you.
It's my last post as DT member for Dies R Us, and although I already miss this team, I'm happy to know that you will have many wonderful projects to look forward to from the new DT members.
It's also my birthday today, so I thought today's post should be all about celebrations :-)

Let's begin with a nice cosmopolitan cocktail to kick it off, shall we? :-)
Friends, this awesome die set is from Sue Wilson and it's called 3D Cosmopolitan Cocktail.

This set comes with a die that allows you to turn the glass into a 3D cut. I cut mine out of vellum to give it a frosted look.  Since my card is going to be mailed overseas, I flattened my glass a little, but the 3D effect is still somewhat visible! This allows you to place the straw and the olive inside the "glass".  Doesn't it look realistic?

I began with a card base from that measures 6.5" x 5" when folded. On the front side, I placed Sue Wilson's Lyra die with the cut on the outside of the card.  This makes a beautiful and elegant edge.  This die set consists of 3 pieces, two cutting edges and flourish piece. This means that you can create different edge designs, create an inlay piece by not using any of the cutting edgers, or a stand alone flourish by using both cutting edgers.  Not sure what I mean?  I'll post a pic for you at the end of this post.

Next, I cut out all the bits and pieces for my drink, and then it's just a matter of putting all the pieces together which is really easy peasy!

To make it look more realistic, I placed glue along the edge of the "glass" and spread some chunky glass glitter over it, to give the idea of a sugared glass :-)

I cut the word "Celebrate" twice and stacked them upon each other for a bit of dimension. I also used a foam dot for the strawberry.  All that was left was to do was to scatter a few sequins to add to the whole party atmosphere :-)

On the inside I used a sentiment and a balloon stamp, as well as a panel of the pink shiny card stock to make the Lyra flourish pop.

This card stock is really hard to photograph, but I wanted to give you an idea of how it shines, so here is another pic.

Now as promised, here are the pics showing you how the Lyra die works:

As you can see, it consists of 3 pieces. Two cutting edgers and a centre flourish.

And here are all the different cuts you can make with this die set by using the different combinations.

To end this post, here a quick recap of the supplies I used to make this card, with links to the Dies R Us store for your convenience:

It's been a great pleasure and honour to have been part of this awesome team and having had the opportunity to share my creations with you.  I hope that I was able to inspire you to use your dies, and to create a project to play along at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog for your chance to win a gift voucher to the Dies R Us Store.   A new challenge begins on the first and fifteenth of every month.

Hello Coffee!

Hello Coffee! and Hello to the new design team members you will be meeting next month.  As for me, this marks my last post as a Dies R Us Design team member.  I have greatly enjoyed my extended stay on the team.  It has been a pleasure to create with the wide variety of  brands in the STORE .  I have been introduced to some fantastic designers to which I will be loyal to for years to come.  I am also very excited about all the "other" products I have recently purchased such as Distress inks and the very helpful Tutti Designs Poke ToolsThanks to the Dani, Darlene and all the DT members for a great run!

Today I am using my latest purchase the Karen Burniston Coffee Cup Pop Up dies.  I find these pop up dies to be fairly easy to assemble, however, I always find a video to watch before I attempt it myself.  You can view Karen's own video or find another version.  I usually watch two to catch all the nuances of a new complex die. I found the actual mechanism of this pop up to be very different from others I own.  It is really neat and allows a place for a gift card.

I did not plan on using this as a gift card holder so I centered my coffee cup, but you can place this pop up mechanism where ever you desire on the fold.  It is awesome!

Here's a closer look at my cup.  The napkin the cup sits on has some really neat embossing that is hard to see in the picture.  I tried to highlight it a bit with ink.

I used only dies that came in the set except the Karen Burniston Greetings Hello and the Frantic Stamper Stitched Cut Corners background for the front of the card.

Egg Hunt

Hello and Happy Easter!  Birgit here with you with my final post for Dies R Us.  Thank you so much Dani and Darlene for allowing me to be part of this amazing team.  I'll sure miss this group of talented designers but I'm glad to know that I'll be seeing you all in blog-land.

It's so easy to whip up cute cards in a jiffy with the dies you can find at Dies R Us.  This card literally took me about 15 minutes to make using a pre-printed background and printed papers.  Here's how I made it:

I started by cutting the Frantic Stamper Assorted Bunnies out of Desert Storm card stock and brushed the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Next I cut the words Happy Easter using Frantic Stamper Elegant Happy Spring Easter Words out of rainbow printed paper that my sweet friend Ann shared with me a while ago.  Thanks Ann!

I cut these little eggs using Impression Obsession Egg Block out of solid card stock and some printed papers.  I stamped the plain colored eggs using larger egg stamps that I had with patterns on them, using the same color ink.  This is a fun way to add pattern to plain cardstock.

This card assembled quickly using Best Ever Glue that's now available in the DRU store.

I hope you're inspired by today's project.  You can find all these dies and so many more amazing products at Dies R Us.

Tickle Me

Colleen from Scrappin Granny here to share a fun little card to make.

I started by just adding a brown piece of card stock on top of my card.

The next step was to rub ink onto my embossing folder and then I put a piece of cream cardstock in the embossing folder and ran it through my machine.  It adds some depth of the embossing.

I added the embossing cardstock to the top of the brown cardstock.

I used teal to cut out the feather using Feather set by EK Success.  Once I had all the feathers cut out, I starting embossing them.

The final steps are just adding the rest of the embellishments and laying everything down on the card. I decided it needed some more movement to the card so I added some vines to it.  I used Leafy Flourish by Cherry Lynn to create the vines.

Here is the finished card.

You Make Me Happy

Good Morning, Donna Phelan back again.

Today I am sharing an all occasion card with you.
It could also be for Spring or Birthday too.
The dies and layering let you change it all up to whatever your need may be.

I find mixing and matching Designer Papers that you wouldn't normally 'see' as going together often gives your card that little unexpected look.
When it works, it really works!

Spellbinders Standard Circles to create my circle loops for my design.

and stamped my floral image in Raven Black ink.  I
mages colored with Copic Markers.

Grabbing some Designer Papers with Polka Dots and Stripes I began layering my stamped panel.  I looped the cut out Tutti Designs Nesting Stitched Circles around the Polka Dot layer and adhered all together.  Adding the Striped DP beneath and also a piece of Black card stock to ground it all.  Heat embossed my sentiment in Black Powder on a Vellum strip topped with Corner Tabs.  I think framing this in like this, gives it a post card feel.  I then placed the entire layered panel on my White card base in a wonky fashion.
This also gives a different look just as the mixed matched Papers do.

Break the rules, people!  lol

Here's what I used:
