Hello Dies R Us Friends and Welcome Back!

Today I (Darlene) have a QUICK & EASY Birthday card to share.

I realized I was in need of a birthday card that HAD to be in the mailbox TODAY in order to arrive at it's destination PRIOR to my friend's birthday ... vs AFTER!  LOL

So I turned to my die cuts and created this quick, easy AND beautiful card!

Whew!  Made it just in time!

I've used 1 stamp, 2 die cuts and 3 papers.

The stamp is by Inkadinkado.

The dies are Poppystamps 'Luxe Background' #1081

and

Spellbinder Card Creator '5x7 Reflective Moment' #S6-011

IF by chance this particular Spellbinder die was not available in our online store,  there would have been so many other die sets available that would have worked just as well for this sentiment panel ... i.e. Nestabilities Valiant Honor or so many of the Sue Wilson die sets ... i.e.  Spanish Collection - Seville.

The papers are Stampin' Up 'Pear Pizazz', Whisper White, and Ken Oliver 'Watercolor Memories' design paper (bold side).

Flowers in my Pocket

Hello, friends!  Today I’ve created a very fun card using one of my never-been-inked stamps and some new flower dies I recently ordered from Dies R Us.  At first glance you may wonder where the stamping is, but it’s there – in the Deep Red Denim Pocket and my old, but still loved Stampin’ Up! Just Jeans background.  I just had to have this pocket stamp, and then it sat unused while I sat wishing I had the right flower dies to use with it.   Finally, here they are.

• My flowers were made with Elizabeth Craft Designs Bunch of Flowers 4.
• The leaves are Spellbinders Sprigs.
• Additionally, I’ve used a Sizzix tag die from my collection.   I typed “tags” into the search field at Dies R Us and came up with 56 selections.  See them here.  The curve at the top of the card was an already cut scrap made with Spellbinders A2 Curved Borders One.

Pictured below is the tag outside of its pocket.

I have to confess it took me forever to write this post because I got distracted searching this, that, and the other thing at Dies R Us.   It’s fun to see what pops up using different search words.  You wouldn’t believe my wish list.   Or maybe you would. . . We’re all in this together, right?  I’m having way too much fun!   Wishing you a great day!

Hello Dies R Us friends!

This week's inspirational DT card for Dies R Us is for a dear work friend who I have been with for 15+ years. I'm sorry to see him leave but wish him well in his retirement. I made this card for my cheeky mentor who will be missed a great deal.

Dies used include:

Spellbinders Standard Circle

Memory Box Cityscape Silhouette

Cheery Lyn Designs Zig Zag Ric Rac

I used this cheeky Some Odd Girl stamp called 'Sneaky Boy Tobie' and coloured him with Copics before fussy cutting around him. I layered him over some travel inspired designer papers (because I know my mentor intends to take his camper around Australia in the near future), separated by Cheery Lyn Designs Zig Zag Ric Rac. I then added the feature Memory Box Cityscape Silhouette to create a simple background scene, including a red moon using a  Spellbinders Standard Circle.

I finished off my card with a couple of strips of postage washi tape and simple banner for my sentiment.

This will also be my final DT inspirational card for Dies R Us as I too will be moving on. I would like to thank all of the wonderful Dies R Us fans who have followed me for the last 18 months as part of the Dies R Us Inspirational Blog. No doubt I will be checking in to see the wonderful creations the talented team here at Dies R Us Inspirational Blog will continue to showcase to inspire you.

A Relaxing Day

It's Thursday once again and my day to show you 

a super fun card!

If you read my last weeks post, I mentioned

I had a ball shopping for summer dies.

There are so many in the store to choose from

and several jumped right in my cart,

so what could a girl do but buy them...LOL!

I have to say I love this beachy scene!

The "beach" was made with Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders

The palm tree I just love!  It comes with extra fronds and coconuts,

and look at that detail.  It is Frantic Stamper Tall Palm Tree With Fronds.

I even added a few "fallen" fronds under the tree!

If you type in the word "palm" in the search box, several more come up

to choose from...I kind of want them all!

Next I added Impression Obsession Beach Fence.

Then came a really neat Impression Obsession Beach Umbrella.

Of course if you have a beach umbrella, you have to have something

to sit on under it, so I added PoppyStamps Canvas Beach Chair.

And last, but not least, walking among the fronds, is a bird from

Impression Obsession Shore Birds.

Two 4 One

Morning Dies R Us Friends!

It's Tuesday once again, and that means I  (Darlene) have a die cutting inspiration piece to share with you today. I decided to do not one but TWO cards for you today using the same dies ... just in a little different way.

The dies I have used on my cards are:

 CARD #1

Inside View

The design paper I used on both cards is from SandyLion.com and has been in my stash for YEARS!  I thought it worked well with the Ashby Corner die ... the flower patterns are very similar! 

I decided to use the 'St. Barts' die set to adorn the inside (top panel) of my card, hence leaving the 'writing panel' open for a personal note which I thought was necessary with the sentiment verse I chose for the front.

CARD #2 ...

For my second card I chose to use the St. Bart's die a little more extensively on the front bringing attention to the sentiment verse I chose ... (and find myself repeating to myself more and more as I get older! lol).   Though a little difficult to see, I popped up the sentiment panel to help add dimension to my card and still keep it mailable. 

Since the Ashby Corner die blends more with the color of the paper, I decided to add White Liquid Pearls to the flower centers which really draws your eye.  I also used it for the center on my Delicate Daisy flower.

Pretty Poppies

Happy Monday, friends!  Today I’d like to share two of my favorite things – gorgeous flowers and fabulous die cuts.

The flowers are my brand new Poppies from Power Poppy. The die cuts are Sue Wilson Greek Island Collection – San Torini and Cheery Lynn Tropical Flourish (check out Fanciful Flourish for a substitute). I’m really loving the whole line of Sue Wilson dies in this size. The die I used for my 5 1/4” square card is the largest in this particular collection. There are several dies in each collection, and they layer beautifully or can be used individually, as I did here.

I had intended to use a lightly patterned blue from this very old designer paper collection, but when I pulled it out and saw this piece I couldn’t turn my back on how nicely it coordinated with the combo of flowers and die cuts -- at least to my eye, anyway. Isn’t it fun to just dive into your stuff and see what comes out? I do so enjoy the creative process. I colored the vining flourish die cut with BG70 and BG72 Copic markers to match the other blues and help it stand out from the paper and the die cut mat. Just because they’re leaves doesn’t mean they have to be green, right?

Butterfly Princess

Hello Dies R Us friends!

This week's inspirational DT card for Dies R Us is a vintage card with a splash of colour featuring this stunning image by Saturated Canary.

I've coloured this gorgeous 'Butterfly Princess' from Saturated Canary with Copics and distressed the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink  and a distressing tool. I've layered her over some coordinating designer papers which have been distressed too.

I've added some simple die cut embellishments with the Magnolia Doohickey Vintage Daisies, Lala Land Eiffel Tower and my favourite Dies R Us Butterflies. I've finished it off with a few rhinestones & pearls and a swipe of Wink of Stella.

A Day At The Beach

Hello and Happy Thursday to  you all!

I hope you all are enjoying your summer weather

as much as I am...though it has rained for over 1 week straight.

Since it is too wet to get to the beach,

I created my own little beach scene with several fun dies!

I first started with a masked off circle

 and SU Pool Party and Bermuda Bay inks.

Now for the fun part!

I like to buy my seasonal dies ahead of time

to give me plenty of time to use in the season we are in.

At the Dies R Us store I typed in "beach"

and all these fun dies jumped in my cart!!

Painted Lady

Hello again, friends!

It's my turn to share a bit of inspiration with you today & I am so excited over the die I want to feature today!  Each year I promise myself I am going to get a head start on my Christmas cards so I am not stuck frantically trying to make them all at the last minute in the midst of the hectic season.  And each year, I still find myself scrambling to get them all made in time.  Not this year!!  The minute I saw Spellbinders Painted Lady die, it was love at first sight & I knew I had to make some Christmas cards with it immediately! This is one of the most beautiful dies I've seen for the Christmas season, but the real beauty of it is that it also makes a gorgeous card to send out year round!

Here is just one version of this gorgeous die used as a Christmas card.  If you check out my personal blog, I have more.  Once you start making cards with this die, you can't stop!

And here it is again used as a summer version.  I just added Poppy Stamps Antique Lamp Post this time. It actually comes with a lamp post, but it is wound with Christmas lights.  Wouldn't this make a sweet birthday card?  Or just a beautiful way to send a little "hello" to a favorite person?  Both of these dies are out of stock as I post this, but if you will just add your name to the list, you will be notified the minute they come back in!

Butterfly Beauty

Welcome back to the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog!

Darlene here with you today to share a card using die cuts from the Dies R Us Store.

I was inspired today by the butterflies I've seen flying around my flowers already this year.  They love the petunia's I have planted in the flower boxes on my deck.  Plus,  I planted a couple butterfly bushes this year in hopes of attracting more ... cross your fingers!

If you like butterflies like I do, you will find a variety of butterfly die cuts available by a variety of companies in the DRU store.  The butterfly die I chose today is Elizabeth Craft Designs - Butterfly Overlay 1 and Elizabeth Craft Designs - Butterfly Silhouette. 

I wanted to 'frame' my butterfly but yet not cover up my pretty 'the Paper Studio' design paper in the background.  So by using '3 of the 6' parts to the Impression Obsession 'Rectangle 6 in 1 Frame' die, I was able to do just that!!

I die cut the entire frame from the lighter shade of blue card stock ... as well as the 'silhouette' die of the butterfly.  Then sponged the center frame and edges of my butterfly silhouette with 'Tim Holtz Picked Raspberry' distress ink.  That modified the color to more of a purple shade.

I also had the center medallion from the Spellbinder Card Creator '5x7 Heirloom Legacy' die sitting on my worktable so I decided to mount my pretty butterfly on it before centering it on my card in the frame work.  I really like how it looks and hope you do too!

Sweet Dreams Baby Card

Hello, and good Monday to you! I’m here to share a baby card today. I’ve had this Wild Rose Studio New Baby image watercolored and tucked away and I thought it would be perfect for our Flags and/or Banners Challenge which starts today on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog. If you’d like to play along you might win a Dies R Us gift voucher to use with your next order, and all you have to do is use dies on your card or project. How easy is that? The challenge runs for two weeks. See more details here.

The dies I used are Whimsy Stamps Build a Banner and Wild Rose Studio Blossom Burst. I topped it off with a Spellbinders Ribbon Banners die and a sentiment from another baby set (love making baby cards).




The Blossom Burst was cut in white, then colored with Copic markers and the flower centers dotted with a white Viva pearl pen. Can’t forget the glitter which helps the flowers stand out from the background.

The pretty designer paper is Whimsy Stamps New Beginnings. Love that Teddy bear face peeking out from under the banner. By the way, I call this my “cheater banner”. Each of the separately cut flags is glued in place directly onto the image panel with bows glued onto the ends. Much easier than trying to hang the flags on a length of ribbon. Also, I cut two sets of flags from two different papers and inset the shapes from the alternate paper.

This week's inspirational DT card for Dies R Us is soft summery one

using some simple and delicate dies.

I've used a Make It Crafty 'Summer Dream' images and coloured her with Copics before framing her with Spellbinders Label 36. I layered her on Spellbinders Grand Oval with some coordinating designer papers. 

I added some delicate features using Kaisercraft Lace Border along with Cheery Lyn Designs Lace Corner Deco B before adding the finishing touches of flowers & pearls.

A sneek peak for you all, there will be a brand new challenge starting next week over at the Challenge Blog. Challenge #27 will be a 'Flags and Banners' challenge. Duck Pond

Happy Thursday, I hope you are all having a great week so far!!

Today is my day to share my project using  dies from the

Dies R Us online store!

I have to admit, this card is not my usual, as I seem to struggle

with "manly" cards.

But, being it is close to Father's Day, and also being I have "needs"

for "manly" cards time to time,

I thought I would "bite the bullet" and get a little bit creative!

I started by using my very neglected Gelatos and created my

own water color background.

A perfect background for the Die-Namics Duck Pond to "float" on! 

I just love this die, it was cut from a recycled packaging material

that the TH Distress stencils arrive on!

I think it gives the ducks a bit of variation of color!

I kept the card simple to mail, by just adding Memory Box Bamboo leaves.

The exact one I used is not in stock anymore, but you can use

Memory Box Tall Bamboo just as easy or try the "Search'

by typing in the word "bamboo" and see all the choices!!

Just a Note!

I hope all of you have been enjoying the summer and enjoying all the amazing creative cards our design team has been sharing!  If you have, we would love to hear your feedback!  Or if there are types of cards you would like more of, please let us know that as well!

For my card today, I chose an adorable digi image from Tiddly Inks, pulled out some of my favorite "go-to" dies and in no time at all, I had a great card to send to friends.  I used the following dies:  Taylored Expressions Picket Fence, Poppy Stamps Antique Lamp Post, Memory Box Puffy Clouds, Dee's Distinctively Tree Base 2 and Dee's Distinctively Tree Toppers.

When you have the basic background dies, you can easily assemble an adorable card & you will use these dies time after time.  By just fussy cutting my image out after I colored her, I could create a complete scene.

 Have you checked out (or purchased) any of the Sue Wilson Collection by Creative Expression dies?
You can do SO MUCH with these fabulous die sets.  Here, I have used this set for both the blue panel on the front of my card (leaving the center portion in tact so the blue shows through) as well as on the inside where I've used another die from the set to cut out the center so I could stamp my sentiment on the 'white' inside portion.  It's the EXACT SAME panel cut two different ways and positioned in two different directions.

I created the 'swirly background' panel myself by using a flourish stamp by Inkadinkado and SU 'Blue Bayou' ink.  I was looking for a LITTLE color in the background but nothing TOO BUSY!  The butterfly was also sponged in a combination of Tim Holtz 'Faded Jeans' and SU 'Blue Bayou' inks.

Roses and Butterflies and Dies -- Oh, My!

Hello, friends! Now, don’t fall over, but I made a box to share today. I know – shock -- something other than a card (my favorites), but this big, beautiful Sue Wilson die cut just begged to cover a box top. I would have preferred to alter an existing box, but a box of the right size did not exist in my alterables cupboard. This box measures 5” x 7” with 1 1/2” sides.

The to-die-for dies used are:

• Sue Wilson Caribbean Island Collection (there are 4 dies in this set; I used the large background)
• Sue Wilson Grand Vinery (not available, but check out Petite Vinery or Mosaic Leaves for a similar look)
• In fact, if you haven’t browsed Sue Wilson dies, just click on the Sue Wilson Designs category at Dies R Us and prepare to swoon.

The flowers and butterflies are Prima, and I tucked in a few sparkly elements along with silk ribbon and copper cord.

The leafy, swirly, twirling vinery was cut in white and then colored with a green Copic marker. I’ve found I like the idea of cutting new dies right away, even when I have no immediate plans for them. They’re SO much prettier cut and ready, and then I’m quickly inspired to create. If desired, I can color my die cuts with markers or perhaps brayer ink over them, or simply leave as is. Most of us love that white on white look, anyway, don’t we? Maybe cut some in white and some in ivory and just pile them up, ready to use. What fun!

This week's inspirational DT card for Dies R Us is a simple card using a combination of my favourite dies.

Cheery Lyn Designs Alison's Ribbon

Cheery Lyn Designs Tags 1

I've used the 'I Wish' stamp from A Day For Daisies and coloured her with my Distress Markers. I framed her with the Spellbinders Modern Stationary before layering her over my designer paper. I added a splash of colour using the Cheery Lyn Designs Alison's Ribbon under the image and the Memory Box Chandra Stem to tie in with the gorgeous image. My sentiment was cut with the largest tag from Cheery Lyn Designs Tags 1. I finished my card off with a bow of twine, a few gems and a splash of glitter on the wings.

Country Road

Hi there!

I was feeling "a little bit country" today,..lol

so I created a fun country card!

I sponged a bit of a cloudy sky on,

then cut a barn using Die Versions Whispers Barn & Silo

from red card stock.  I backed it with white card stock,

simply by just cutting the edge.

Did you know that Dies R Us has their own brand of dies?

Well, they sure do, and I purchased these cute, cute little Lambs.

You get 5 different ones in the set, though I am only using 4 here.

I cut them from an already embossed card stock

for a bit of fun!!

They are the are perfect size and they will work well

for a baby card or Christmas card, too!

Every farm needs a dog to round up those lambs,

so I added an Impression Obsession Dog from the Dog Set.

My sentiment is an oldie from Flourishes.

A very simple card that easily can be mailed!

Fluttering by with birthday wishes!

Hello again, friends!

Can you believe June is here already?  Summer breezes, flowers, & butterflies!  A perfect inspiration for today's birthday card!  I wanted something really beautiful, feminine and cheerful for a special friend, so I immediately went to the Dies R Us store where I found EXACTLY what I wanted!  Here are the dies I chose:  Poppy Stamps Elsa Butterfly Branch, Cheery Lynn Exotic Butterfly Small #2,  Cheery Lynn Lace Corner Deco B, and Spellbinders Pierced Ovals. 

Here is the beautiful card!

I cut a second Elsa Butterfly Branch & snipped the butterfly out to add it on top of the base for more dimension in addition to the beautiful Exotic butterfly in the bottom corner.

To carry the theme to the inside, I put my sentiment on another pierced oval & added yet another butterfly.

Here is a closeup of the gorgeous Elsa die.  Wouldn't this be beautiful as a sympathy card too?

Hello Dies R Us Friends!

Darlene here with an inspiration card for you today!

Well it's planting, gardening, mowing time of year again and with the past couple of weeks being spent outdoors taking care of all the prep work ... it seems to have flowed over into my crafting life as well!

With all the amazing dies available at our Dies R Us Store, you can create a fun 'scene' card in no time at all ... as I have done today!

My background paper/journal note/banner are from the Graphic45 'Time to Flourish' 8x8 paper pad. And here's a list of the dies used on this fun card:

Cheery Lynn Designs - Butterflies Flying Among the Vines Mesh Border ... I colored the butterflies with a Spectrum Noir GB3 alcohol marker.

Memory Box - Blushing Bouquet   (sponged ink onto the flowers while still in the die)

As I mentioned, after die cutting the Memory Box 'Blushing Bouquet' from white paper, I simply used what ink happened to be remaining on a few of my sponge daubers to add some color to the flowers. Such an easy and fun way to add a bit of color to your die cuts!

 I also 'popped up' my Rooster & Hen for a little dimension.

Well I have a busy week ahead so I'd best get moving!

Pick a Pretty Posy

Hello! It’s me, Leslie, and I’m excited to be sharing my first post on the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog today! I’ll be with you on Mondays from here on out and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.



Years ago there was a question asked in an online stamping forum: “Are you a ‘stampy stamper’ or a ‘scrappy stamper’?” Well, I had to say I’m definitely a ‘stampy stamper’, meaning my focus is on the stamped image using various means at my disposal to enhance the image. A scrappy stamper is one who makes those marvelously creative cards using very little stamping, but somehow manages to pull all the parts together into a magnificent whole. Isn’t it wonderful that these days we can so easily combine both styles into one card? I hardly ever make a card without die cuts anymore. Sometimes I’ll use just a few, and sometimes I’ll use quite a lot. Today I’m using three die cuts to turn these brightly colored primroses (Power Poppy’s Potted Primroses) into a pretty little nosegay.

I positioned one of the Sue Wilson Italian Collection Decorative Frames over a Spellbinders Classic Circle which I cut from yellow designer paper, then accented with an Impression Obsession Large Bow (curly tails cut off). I’ll soon be adding more bow dies to my collection from the many available in the Dies R Us store. They’re a fabulous way to add a bow of any color without the bulk of a ribbon knot. I like this one, for instance, but there are many more to see if you simply type “bow” into the search field.



That pretty Sue Wilson decorative die cut makes all the difference, doesn’t it?
