Get Your Cake On!

Hello DRU fans!  Birgit here with you today with a card that satisfies my sweet tooth, so lets get our cake on and celebrate!

Personally speaking, my favorite cake flavor is chocolate with peanut butter frosting but this one is pretty in pink, don't you think?

Here's what I did:

I started by cutting this Sue Wilson Designs Scalloped Lattice Frame out of white cardstock and mounted it to a pink A2 sized card base.

Next, I cut the Sue Wilson Make A Cake out of white cardstock.  I added color to the cake pieces using Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Inks.  I added the detail to the cake stand by rubbing ink into the grooves of the die while the cardstock was still inside the die.  This gave a subtle detail which I really loved.

I assembled the cake using Best Glue Ever.  This really is a great glue and it's new at DRU!  It dries clear and quickly and gave a very strong bond.  I also cut an Elizabeth Craft Designs Dotted Scallop Oval out of white card stock and a  blue one using Elizabeth Craft Designs Fitted Ovals.

This is the assembled card.

I mounted the cake using foam dots to give it some dimension.

I enjoyed this cake die so much, I just had to make another birthday card to add to my stash.

I hope you enjoyed today's project.  Be sure to visit  Dies R Us and check out all their new additions to the store.  They've been busy stocking the shelves with lots of new products.

  4. Oh YUM! Love the soft pretty colors and that fabulous tiered cake! That background die cut on your 1st one is spectacular, so pretty! The design and layout on your 2nd one is perfect! (luckily I actually baked a cake last night--nothing fancy like this, just from a box lol) Well done!
