Happy 50th Anniversary

Happy New Year Dies R Us crafting friends.  Lena here today to share a card I made for my aunt and uncle who recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Gold being the traditional colour, I kept my card simple by using just two colours, white and gold, with a few pearly accents just for good measure :-)

Here is a quick pictorial of how I put this card together using the following dies:

I began with a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" card base. I then folded the front in half in order to make it a Z-fold card
I cut a piece of gold shimmer cardstock 1/8" smaller and placed it on the inside of the card with a removable glue dot. This was to hold it steady while I positioned my die. In order for all the cuts to align perfectly, you have to ensure that the fold of the front of your card is perfectly aligned with the die underneath.

Once you have found the correct position, place a small piece of removable tape (I used washi tape) to hold your dies together while you send it through your die cutting maching.

Now all that is left to do is to align the left half of your heart with the score line on the front of your card.  Adhere it with a small piece of tape and cut it.  I added a piece of white and gold cardstock behind it so that  it would stand out more. When I was done, I felt that there was too much white on the left hand side of the card, so I cut a few flowers in gold and placed them on top of the white flowers.
Next I cut the Darla butterfly out of vellum and the Vivienne butterfly and wedding rings out of the gold cardstock.  Remember, that every so often, Dies R Us runs a big sale on international dies. During these times, you will find dies from companies such as Marianne Designs, Lea'bilities, Joy Crafts, etc. The best way to know about these fabulous sales is to subscribe to the Dies R Us Newsletter. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will be able to enter your email address and be put on their mailing list.
To finish it off I added a few pearls, gems and the numbers.
