Cozy . . .

Hello Dies R Us Friends!
Darlene with you today sharing a wintertime card that was great fun to create!

I live in Ohio and we are having a true winter this year!  I have pulled out all my winter sweaters that haven't seen daylight for the past couple of winters due to us having very mild temperatures in comparison to this year.    Guess I should pay more attention to that old Farmer's Almanac ... they predicted this to be a COLD year!!

Anyways, since I was in 'sweater mode', I thought I'd keep it going with a card which was created using the fun Elizabeth Craft 'Sweater' die.

Elizabeth Craft Designs - Dies - Winter Sweater

One sweater was made using design paper from the Authentique Tradition Collection and the other one was created using the Tim Holtz 'Holiday Knit' Layering Stencil.
The designer paper sweater was easy ... I simply die cut the sweater from the patterned side of the paper and the extra pieces from the flip side of that same paper which happened to be a coordinating solid ... easy peasy.
To create the 'sweater' pattern on the other one, I used a scrap of white card stock and Tim Holtz 'Faded Jeans' distress ink along with the stencil.  Then die cut my sweater.

I first die cut the collar, bottom band and cuffs from white card stock but didn't think it stood out enough so I quickly used the other end of this scrap of white card stock ... inked it with the same distress ink and die cut the same pieces.  I actually already had the white pieces adhered so simply layered the blue pieces on top of the white.

For the sentiment I used another Elizabeth Craft die ... 'Cozy'.   It was die cut twice from the scrap piece (above) used for the cuff & collar panels ... once in white and once in blue.  Then off set to create dimension.

Here's another peek at the finished card . . .
A hand drawn border and Nuvo white crystal drops were the only embellishments needed to complete my card.

  1. Oh Man! These are so cute and I only wish that I could whip up several of these sweaters to wear as easily as you did. Sure would be faster than knitting! I guess paper crafting would not be as warm. But too cute not to make. Thanks for the warm inspiration. This is a cold winter for sure, I am feeling it here in Florida. Not complaining, we have sunshine too.

  3. Cozy indeed! I am happy to say the sun is shining, even when cold it makes all the difference! Love how you stenciled the sweater--that is perfect! AND the Designer Paper for your 2nd one is also perfect! Love these! Stay warm and make some soup, my friend!

  5. Darlene, I could really do with a few of those sweaters. We've had below freezing temps here in Houston, and we're just not built for that lol. I prefer the 100 deg. weather any day! Love these warm and cute sweaters. Heading to the store right now :-)
