Sympathy Card

Happy Monday crafting friends. Lena here today to share a Sympathy card with you.
This card came together very quickly just by using a Jeanine's Art frame die and a few Lavinia stamps.

Like most of you, making Sympathy cards are not easy for me. I always try to go for something simple but tasteful and I hope I have achieved that with this card.  I cut an Art of Living Frame by Jeanine's Art and matted it on dark green card stock.

When using the center pieces of a frame die, it's always a good idea to mark the top of the frame and the insert.  You see, more than often, even though it's a square die, there is just that little bit of a difference between the sides, just enough that if you don't mark it, when you insert the center piece back onto the frame, it won't fit properly.  By marking them both, you always know what side is up.  As you can see, I just placed a little star circle on both of my pieces.

I made a little landscape mask by tearing a piece of card stock and using it on both sides to alternate the look of the ground.  I always begin with the darkest colour, in this case Tea Dye from Ranger.

I moved my landscape mask and sponged in the next colour, Desert Sand from Memento.

Using the Lavinia Stamp Fir Tree, I stamped it twice using Versafine Clair Shady Lane ink.

I wanted a few birds on my card, but not all of them that come in this Birds stamp from Lavinia Stamps, so using a few pieces of tape, I covered up the birds I didn't want to stamp and inked up the stamp with Versafine Black Onyx ink.

Once the tape is very carefully removed, only the birds I wanted remain inked.  I stamped these birds just above the trees.  Next I stamped the sentiment and went to work on the inside of my card, following the same process as I did in the front of the card.  I only stamped one tree on the inside so there was enough space for me to write my own personal message. All that was left to do was add a gem to each corner to dress it up a little bit.  I used a copic marker to colour a plain crystal as I didn't have any brown ones.

Now here is a quick reference of the materials I used to make this card.
