Love Bird

Welcome to February!  It's hard to believe how quickly the months are flying by and that February is here already.  I love the month of February and especially February 14th because not only is it Valentine's Day, but it's also the day that my daughter was born 24 years ago!  I couldn't have been given a lovlier gift ever!  So, in preparation for Valentine's Day I'm jumping right in to the season with a little bird love.

I watched a Penny Black video with Jill Foster and just adored how she made it look like the "Love" sentiment was suspended in the air with strings and I just had to try it.  I changed my card up a bit using dies that are found at Dies R Us.

Here's what I did:
I cut four Poppystamps Pointed Rectangle Frames and glued three of them together.  I set the remaining Pointed Rectangle Frame aside and blended some Broken China and Faded Jeans Distress Ink onto the negative piece of one of the frames.

Next, I cut out two Penny Black Ardor branches out of white card stock and blended the same colors onto the dies that I used for the background.  This particular die is currently out of stock in the store but the Love Is Growing die would make a great substitution.

I cut out this darling bird using Memory Box Feathered Friends and assembled the bird, popping just the tip of his wing up using a foam dot to add dimention.

I blened a scrap of white cardstock with Worn Lipstick and Abandoned Coral Distress Ink and cut it using the Penny Black Love die.

Next I assembled the card.   I glued the ardor dies to the distressed panel and glued the stack of three frames over the top.  I then ran two pieces of thread through the "Love" die and glued it to the top of the frame.  I also put little bits of foam tape on the back of the "Love" die to lift it off the card front.
Next I glued the fourth Pointed Rectangle Frame onto the entire assemblage, hiding the threads, which were snipped off after it was all glued in place.

I then tied two bows and glued them onto the die where the tread ran through.

I trimmed off just the bottom of the bird and then nestled him into the frame.  So cute!!
