Chillax!

Hello crafting friends.  Lena here today to share a card with you that I made for my hubby for Father's Day. Since we are a "tropical beaches" loving family, I thought this card perfect for hubby.

Can't you just picture yourself sitting on this chair with one of those fru-fru tropical drinks in your hand and just Chillaxing? :-)

I started off with a white, 6.5" x 5" card base by Recollections and in small circular motions, sponged the front of the card with Memento Summer Sky ink. I always use sticky notes to tape off any sections that need to remain ink free.

Next I used the following dies to create my scene:
I also tore a piece of beige card stock to make the sand.

I cut the palm tree three times.  Once in the brown and the other two times in the green. I cut a little here and trimmed a little there so that I ended up with one palm tree trunk and two leaf crowns.  I placed foam tape on the bottom layer to add a little dimension to the scene.

While assembling my card, I felt like it needed a few extra things to make the scene complete, so I cut some clouds, beach grass and seagulls, all from Impression Obsession Dies.  I stamped the sentiment right onto the biggest cloud using Versafine Black Onyx Ink.

I used an Extra Fine Sharpie to colour in the tips of the wings and tails of the seagulls.

I have a little tip to share with you that I find very helpful when using a variety of dies.  If you're like me, you don't pack your dies as you go along, but struggle to find all the bits and pieces at the end of your project.  Well, this of course, is a recipe for disaster in that, sometimes, the little dies disappear amongst the scraps and either end up in your scraps drawers or worse, in the trash.  In order to avoid this, I got into the habit of placing my dies in a little bucket that I have on my desk.  When my project is complete and I pack everything away, I know that I don't have to worry about losing any of my dies. There are some nifty little magnetized bowls that you can buy just for this purpose, but my little bucket works just fine for me.

On the inside of my card, I sponged the sky again in the same manner as I did the front. I cut another piece of sandy paper for the beach sand and added a seagull and a little grass to finish it all off.

Here's a quick look at all the dies I used on this project.

I hope I was able to inspire you to use your dies, create a project, and come play along at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog for your chance to win a gift voucher to the Dies R Us Store.  A new challenge begins on the first and fifteenth of every month.  Be sure to Follow Us on Facebook too.

Till next time,
Crafty hugs,
Lena
