Simple Pleasures

Happy Easter everyone! Joyce here with a simple card using a sponged background and a Cheery Lynn Exotic Butterfly die. I don't have a video today but will explain the process:-)

I started with a piece of precut Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I was practicing different sponging tools and paper. I was pleasantly surprised how well the Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Mustard Seed) went on with a mini distress tool. Normally I have a difficult time using the distress tools for sponging. I applied the yellow mostly in the center. The other colors were applied randomly. Then I spritzed heavily, waited about 30 seconds and dabbed off. This helps cover any blending that isn't smooth.

I used a textured stamp and Versfine gray ink randomly in the background. I also used Cracked Pistacio Distress ink and stamped some foilage slightly for texture. I have a closeup before I added the splatters and butterfly but I lost it:-( So here is a closer look at the background. You can't really see the foliage.

I used Kuretake Gold paints and splattered the background with 3 shades of gold. Then added the Cheery Lynn - Exotic Butterfly Medium cut from some glimmer paper and added pearls.

I used a yellow cardbase with a black mat.
