Modified Die Cuts

Greetings lovely people, Alicia here to wrap up this week of inspiration. So glad that you've come by today to check out our Dies R Us blog. Please scroll down & make sure you check out all of this weeks posts by all of our talented designer, as there are some great tips in there!

Now for my tip this week, I'm going to explain how to get more (or actually less) from your dies, by modifying what you are cutting. First up is a photo of my creation. I've tried to keep it as clean and simple (CAS) as I can, which is quite a challenge in itself! I've used the cute Magnolia 'Edwin with Lizard' stamp & tried to keep with the flavor of the month - green (to be sure).

I've actually used 3 different dies, plus a couple of punches in this creation. The first 2 dies used are for the image & the image frame, being Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small &  Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals Small. Both of these dies are staples in my supply.

The third die I used in my creation is actually the third smallest die from the Spellbinders Donna Salazar Creative Book Pages (the small blue one), slightly modified.

As my card isn't overly large, I didn't want the green matt as wide as the full die however I did want it longer. So I simply cut my paper to the size I wanted & placed the die centrally over my paper strip so that I got the 'tab' features I was after, but threaded my paper over the die so that it stayed long & was not cut by the die.

My little newsprint flower was made by layering x3 large daisy punches and a single medium daisy, all edged with Distress Ink Vintage Photo & scrunched. I finished it off with some twine sewn through a button.

Once all elements had been cut & assembled, I added a few strips of Washi tape & a simple 'Happy Birthday' sentiment.

Thanks for spending your precious time visiting our blog. I hope that we've left you with some inspiration! Please come back on Monday to see what stunning creation Mikha posts next!
