Happy Anniversary

Hello crafting friends. Lena here today to share a card with you that I made for a dear friend's wedding anniversary.

It's a very romantic easel card. It measures approx. 5" x 5" and it folds flat for mailing.

I began making my card by cutting out the base in white card stock  I used a Marianne Designs die called Anja's Filigree Heart.  I folded a piece of card stock in half and laid the heart die a little off of the top so that the heart would not cut all the way through.  You can do this with any die you have in order to make it a shaped card.

Next, I used the same die and cut out a full shape from blue card stock to use as the background for my filigree heart.

I cut and embossed the filigree part of the heart.  While the card stock was still in the die, I used a sponge dauber to lightly ink all the embossed areas. I used Memento Summer Sky ink to do this.

Next I cut the flowers from the Star Flower Cluster die by Sue Wilson. Using a medium ball tool, I shaped the flowers to give them a little dimension.  Once this was done I adhered them together and added a little blue gem to the center of each flower. I needed a little foliage for my floral arrangement, so I cut out some and branches from the Flourishes and Branches die by Elizabeth Craft and also a sprig from the Spellbinders' Sprigs dies.  I put it all together into a small arrangement and added some more gems to the little branches.

For the inside of my card, I cut the little heart die 5 times and adhered it to each other, to make it thicker so that it will hold the front of the card when it's opened. Lastly, I stamped the Happy Anniversary greeting.

Here is a quick recap of the dies I used:

Dance to your own music

Good morning!  Alicia blogging today with a feminine card using the Frantic Stamper Pleated Dress die.  Since I have four nieces I am sure this die will come in handy.  I envision sweet little dresses and formal prom dress for cards and perhaps party invites.  For today, I went with a sweet little floral dress but I can see the possibilities are endless!

As always with a new die, I cut it out in plain white paper and played around a bit.  I found I liked when I used two cuts of "pleats" for the bottom of the dress.  First I used an accordion fold on the "pleats" with the help of a bone folder to really make them crease. To adhere my two pieces of "pleats" I simply used a strip of tape runner along the inside edge of the top piece.  When adhering my bottom to the card I used plenty of tape to keep the pleats in place.

There are three choices for "tops".  I like this one for this dress, it was a little less formal.  Finally, I tied a bow from some ribbon and adhered to the waist with glue dots.  I finished off the card with some sequins, another die cut layer and matching papers.

Just Beachy

On our recent trip out to California, one of the things on my bucket list was to visit the Pacific Ocean.  This card is inspired by the beautiful western coast line.  Good morning DRU fans!  Birgit here with you today and I've got a card that's Just Beachy!

I started by finding a pretty beach scene online that I could print on my home printer and attached it to an A2 sized card front.

I cut the Impression Obsession Beach Umbrella, IO Beach Chairs and IO Flip Flops and assembled each one as necessary.

Next I cut these sweet Seaside Treasures from Memory Box out of white card stock and added color using Distress Inks.

I cut these Impression Obsession Sea Birds out of white card stock and added color in the same way and then assembled my card.

After the scene was completed, I heat embossed the sentiment in white.

The owners of the Dies R Us store were recently away on vacation as well and while they were gone, they had amazing daily sales, so you may find that lots of the dies I used today are currently out of stock.  Fear not!  They replenish their dies on a regular basis and with the click of a button you can ask them to send you an e-mail when the dies are back in stock.

Be sure to sign up for their newsletter while you're there because you don't want to miss out on their fabulous sales and their special order dies.

Here is a list of dies that I used that can be found at the Dies R Us store:

Make A Card With Your Background Stash

Hello, Joyce Erb here today. If you are like me you may have a bunch of backgrounds you made in your stash. Maybe you tried different techniques or products then saved the results. If not then you can substitute patterned paper. But seriously, making backgrounds is sooo fun! You can see how to make many backgrounds at my Blog or YouTube channel.

I started with a background from my stash. It is glossy paper with alcohol inks dabbed on. Then add a few drops of alcohol.

I cut the Penny Black Half Circle out 2 times then trimmed off the top corners. This die is currently on the waitlist so be sure to add your email.

Next I glued onto the background (see video for specifics). Then added the sentiment which is a die from Pink & Main - Hello.  The panel is then mounted onto a blue cardbase. I use Gina K cardstock for my bases.

Happy Everything!

Hello Everyone!
Darlene with you today sharing a fun spring/summer time inspiration card.
Who doesn't enjoy swinging on a swing in the summer breeze or just sitting in the grass watching the clouds go by?  I know I sure do so that's what this card is all about ... wishing you a Happy Everything!

The dies I have used on today's card are as follows:

Impression Obsession 'Split Tree'
Impression Obsession - Dies - Split Tree

Yvonne Creations Pretty Pierrot Flower Swing

Yvonne Creations - Dies - Pretty Pierrot - Flower Swing

Impression Obsession 'Clouds'

Impression Obsession - Dies - Clouds

Impression Obsession 'Dog Set'

Impression Obsession - Dies - Dog Set

This little scene was a lot of fun to create and can certainly be used for a variety of occasions!  The 'split tree' is a fun die to create with since you can use it in multiple ways.

You can keep the two pieces together and die cut a FULL tree or you can cut either side to use on the edge of you card showing just a 'portion' of an entire tree.  Either left side or right side ... how much fun is that?  As you can see, I decided to use a left & a right giving my card different dimension.

Remember, each an every day of the month there's a new inspiration sample being shared by this fabulous design team.  Please be sure to pop in regularly.

I hope you've enjoyed what I've shared today!  And, don't forget to come join in the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  There's a new challenge theme offered on the 1st and 15th of each month and one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive a gift voucher prize to the Dies R Us Store.  For your convenience, all the important Dies R Us links are provided below.

Stand Up Helpers

Every once in awhile I make an easel card, especially if I know that the recipient wants to save the card and display it.  One of the tricky parts of making an easel card is how to keep the back propped up Let me show you a fun way to accomplish this.

Elizabeth Crafts Designs has dies that are used to help keep the back portion of your card up.  They are called "stand up helpers". For this card I used the Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper.
First cut the card stock that is going to be used for the base then line up the stand up helper die on the bottom fold:
When you run it through your cutting machine, the die is designed to cut the words but not cut along the fold line:
I wanted the letters to pop, so I used a piece of white cardstock, used the same die and then trimmed it from the piece of cardstock.  Then I adhered it over the brown letters:
Now you can finish your card.  For mine I cut out ovals with Elizabeth Craft Design Stitched Ovals:
I decorated them with the beautiful Birds On A Branch by Die-namites.

On the base I used pieces of Cheery Lynn's Fanciful Flourish.

Fun!  I only wish the colors in the photos were more true to the real colors of the browns but you get an idea, at least, of how pretty these cards can be.  Thanks for looking.
