Thankful Card

 Hello Friends,

Diane here to share a my newest card, "Thankful".  The die I used for this card is so fun and cute.  It can be used for any occasion.  A "Welcome home" card for a loved one, a "Congratulations on your new home" card, add a pumpkin or two for a "Fall" card or a "Christmas tree" and it becomes a Christmas card.

This is a lovely die from Impressions Obsessions called "Saltbox Houses" and it's available at Dies R Us.

Come see what I created:

Card Recipe:

This card measures 4 1/4 x  5 1/2 (A2 sized).  I began with a white 110 lb card base measuring 4 1/4 x 11 and scored it in half at 5 1/2.

Next, I decided on the colors and designer paper to use.  You can use any background paper your heart desires. I chose a colorful floral pattern.  Next, cut the die out several times in matching colors.  I cut red, blue, yellow, grey, etc.  Then save and place all the pieces on your work station.

Next, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scalloped Circle Frames to cut a white circle background for my houses. You can cut this out in ivory if that matches better with your paper selection. The "Lawn Fawn" die cuts two pieces.  I just used some tape on the back to adhere the center circle to the scalloped frame.

Then, I put together the houses on the center front of my scalloped circle.  This takes a little bit of time to place and adhere all the tiny pieces together, but it's well worth the final result.  A tweezers is helpful in this step.

Once the houses are in place. It's time to stamp the sentiment.  I used a "Thankful" sentiment. I stamped it using black Momenta ink on yellow cardstock.  You can use any sentiment stamp you desire.

Then the last step is adding a little bling.  I chose to add some Graphic 45 gold flat back pearls, but you can add Nuvo drops, flowers, rhinestones, or sequins.

That's it. An easy, fun, quick card.

Autumn Skies and Pumpkin Pies

The best part of Thanksgiving is the smell of fresh baked pumpkin pie.

Welcome everyone to a wonderful autumn / Thanksgiving card tutorial.  We are coming upon my favorite time of the year.  I have to say that my husband has vocalized his love of thanksgiving being his favorite season because of the food.  At my house a put on  a full on feast.  I guess the saying is true that the way to a man's heart is though his stomach.

As I was searching through the Dies R Us I found a cute pie from Impression Obsession that just fed into my whole Fall food obsession.  I decided this would make a beautiful card in conjunction with some lawn fawn dies.

Supplies:

Grey Cardstock
Pink Watercolor Cardstock
White Vellum
Broken China Distress Oxide
Brown & White Twine
Glue Tape
Double Sided Tape
1/4" Foam Tape
Versafine Clair Ink Pad - Nocturne
Clear Hero Arts Embossing Powder

Let the craft begin!

To begin I made an A2 card base.  I do this by cutting a letter size piece of cardstock and cut it at 5 1/2" along the 11" side.  Then fold in half and burnish.  I then cut a piece of kraft cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5".

Using the largest of the Fancy Scalloped Stackable Dies I die cut a brown print cardstock from the Echo Park Celebrate Autumn Collection as well as a 1 1/2" of burlap print cardstock to make an edging.  I adhered the edging to the right side of the brown cut out.  Using 1/4" foam tape I adhered this down to my card base.

I then proceeded to die cut an aqua cardstock from the same collection using the second larges of the Fancy Scalloped Circle Dies.  I also die cut a piece of white cardstock with the second larges of the Large Dotted Circle Dies and adhered to the aqua cut out using liquid glue.

At first I wanted to add ribbon to this, but thought it would be fun to make some lops on the back of the cut out using twine.  I did this by making a square of 1/8" double sided tape on the back of the scallop cut out and then looping the twine in a figure eight on the back side.

Using 1/4" foam tape I adhered this down onto my  card base on the upper right side.  I wanted everything to be balanced towards the right of the card.

For the pie, I used the Impression Obsession, Small Love Pie Die to make the main image for my card.  For the pie tin I used grey  cardstock (mine happened to have a metallic sheen to it), kraft cardstock for the crust, pink watercolor cardstock for the heart and vellum for the steam tendrils.  Adhere the curt and tin together with liquid glue.  Using foam tape I popped the pie and heart onto the scalloped piece.  For the steam I used Broken Chine Distress Oxide to give the bellum some color.  I used a glue tape runner to adhere the vellum steam down.

For the sentiment I used the Thanks, Thanks, Thanks stamps from Lawn Fawn.  There is a handwriting thanks that I selected and a small sentiment of give that I decided to use.  I stamped this down onto cardstock with Nocturne Versafine Clair.  Using a clear embossing powder I heat sent the sentiment.  I then die cut the thanks with the corresponding dies.  I then cut the give out to be about 1/4" high and then around 4" long with a perpendicular cut. The two were set at the bottom of the card as depicted below.

The finished product will look like.  This is the beautiful card with lots of lovely details and yet simple to make.  The lovely printed paper give this card such a warm feel to it.
