A Doodle Rose Wreath Background with Dies R Us!

Hi Dies R Us friends! Did you know you can make a cool background using almost any die? I decided to give it a try using this cute Doodle Rose Wreath from Sue Wilson.  It's been hot here (and probably where you are, too) so I felt like a nice tropical aqua would be a nice, cool color to use.  I hope you like my card:

What I used to Make my Card:
White Card Base
White Card
Doodle Rose Wreath Die from Sue Wilson
Simply the Best Die from Sue Wilson
Dimensional Dots
Aqua Card

In progress

The background was fairly simple; I just started cutting on a 5 1/2" x 4  1/4" sheet of white cardstock, once I was done, I trimmed it down to 5 1/4" x 4".  Some of the edges "lost" the flowers, so I took some of the cut out swirly pieces and glued them where the flowers would of been.  I put the aqua paper on the back, attached the panel onto the card base.  The sentiment was cut from the same aqua card and attached to a white back, trimmed down, which was then adhered to the card using dimensional dots.  The most important part was letting the back panel dry completely prior to trimming it so the flowers I added it didn't get torn off when I trimmed the card.  I think it came out really nice!

You can see the exact products I used in the picture on the right. There are SO many dies you could do this with, the possibilities are endless! You can visit the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog daily to learn all types of new and inventive ways to use your dies; my fellow teammates are very creative!  Thanks so much for stopping by and I will see you next time ~ fondly, Christi

All My Love

This is one of those very rare cards (at least for me!) that comes together just as I envisioned it.  Although it isn't a true birthday card, this is what I am giving my mom for her 84th birthday this June.  Grab a cup and have a seat - this post is a bit photo heavy.

What I Used to Make my Card:
Lilac Card Base
Watercolor Paper
Memory Box Fairytale Border, #98473
Die-Versions Whispers Fence Background #DVW-314
Sentiment from SemSee's Designs for Cardmaking & Papercraft Magazine (Jan 2017)
Hero Arts Bubble Gum Ink
Craft Mat
Zig Clean Color Markers in Light Green, May Green, Carmine Red, Light Carmine, Cobalt Blue, Light Violet & Yellow
Detail Tip Watercolor Brush
White Cardstock

I knew I wanted to watercolor the flowers on the Fairytale Border so I used watercolor paper for the die cut.  I have found that for vibrant watercolor nothing beats Zig Clean Color Markers, and if you like to watercolor, I strongly suggest you grab a set.  Since there is more green than any other color, that is what I used first.  I just sort of scribbled the light green and may green markers around where I wanted the green to go.

Then, as I blended the greens together, I added more where I felt there may be a bit of color lacking.  The process is very forgiving, as long as you dry your cardstock in between adding colors.

Then it was time to play with the flowers.  Most of them are colored with just one color, but I wanted the largest blooms to stand out a bit more so I used two reds to color them; carmine red and light carmine.  The picture on the left shows how I colored the flowers with the light carmine, pulling the color from the tip of the flower to the inside.  The picture on the right shows where I colored the inside of the blooms with the darker carmine red.  All I did was just keep blending with the detail water brush, drying
the flowers and stems in between the blending, and adding more color as needed to achieve the look I wanted.  Once I finished with the border, I die cut the fence background and wove the flowers throughout.

I chose the sentiment from a set of free stamps I had gotten and stamped it onto white card using bubble gum pink ink.  Lastly, I attached the fence and flowers to the card base, then I attached the sentiment, gently placing it under the flowers and lining it up with the fence.
Another Look
All of the dies I used here are brand new and I can see many more uses for both of them.  In fact, I am putting more "background" dies on my wish list!

Thank you so much for reading my post and I do hope you will come back to the Dies R Us Inspirational Blog to see what my talented teammates have created. There is a NEW project every day! Pretty Staggered Backgrounds

Hello, Sweet Die-Cutting Friends!
Donna, here, with a little Dies R Us Inspiration!

Today's post is about jazzing up die cut backgrounds!

Team Member Anne Greenspan and I challenged each other to stack our backgrounds.
Ann's comprehensive post containing gorgeous artwork is here.

It was such fun creating this Beauty - We hope you enjoy the technique!

I have two cards for you today:

Same colors of die cuts,
and
Same background dies,

one is a PINK base,
one is a BLUE base

BUT
they yield very different effects!

My card duo today features the following
Dies R Us Products:

Make Some Fun Staggered Backgrounds!

First, plan ahead by choosing glitters or embossing powders to texturize some of the layers:

Second, move the layers around around:

TIP:

When you have several layers and elements on your card, move them around until you have hidden all the mistakes and blunders, so that the best parts show up on top! (giggle)
Here I moved the flowers around until the shapes were cohesive, and the boo-boos were hidden:

The backgrounds are staggered so that the back mirror cardstock panel is positioned half-way behind the glittered panel. I left the glittered panel uncut.

The glittered frame is a nice contrast to the flower centers, ornament and back panel, all cut from the same purply mirror cardstock. The pine branch die cuts have been embossed with another color of glittery embossing powder to provide a touch of variation in the silvers.

The interior has been distressed around the edges of the die cut, and also halo'ed around the card base to which the layer was adhered:

To make this card:

Step by Step Directions:

Assemble on 6" x 6" white card stock:
