Hello Fall

Hello everyone!  I'm Kristina Hein and I'm here with my very first post as a Dies R Us Design Team member.  I am oh so EXCITED to be here!  I'm going to jump right on in.

I absolutely love fall.  The colors, the smells, the weather...just about everything!  The funny thing is, I rarely make a fall themed card.  Now I have the perfect reason.

I knew I wanted to use leaves and fall colors (of course) so I went through my Distress Oxide inks to find just the right colors.  I ended up using Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Forest Moss, Gathered Twigs and Dusty Concord.  I started with a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock and traced outlines of the dies I wanted to use.  These particular dies are Layering Leaves by Concord & 9th.  I carefully sponged on the colors to the paper randomly and then ran them through my Big Shot.

I also wanted to give them a little something extra so I added metallic gold paint splatters.  Here they are laid out to dry.

While they were drying, I began to work on the card base.  I cut out another piece of Bristol cardstock with a rectangle die from Lawn Fawn.  I then used three of the Distress Oxide colors and the gold metallic to add splatters all over it.

I cut a white strip of paper, a little bigger than 1" x 4 1/4", and cut it with the same rectangle dies.  I wanted the vertical edges of the strip to have the same stitch detail as the card base.  From there I just started playing around with the layout of the leaves, cutting, moving and so on until I got them just right.  I glued them in place with a Zig 2-Way Glue pen.

Trying to show off that gold!!

For my sentiment, I used another Lawn Fawn die.  It is the Happy Fall Line Border die.  I wanted it to be in gold.  I smooshed Versamark ink all over another strip of paper, added gold embossing powder and heated it until all melted.  I carefully adhered it with a Zig 2-Way Glue pen.  I then glued the white strip over the leaves.  Then the whole white piece was glued onto an A2 sized card base.

For my finishing touch I added a few dots of Nuvo drops using Bottle Green, Ripened Pumpkin and Plum Pudding.

I hope you liked today's card!  See you again soon.
