Purple Cone Flowers by Ann

With all the Spring flowers coming up early this year, I thought it was appropriate to make a bright floral card with my favorite IRL flower -- the purple Echinacea (cone flower).

To start, I cut the Sue Wilson Caribbean Island Collection Background die on black cardstock.   This die does NOT detach from the paper so you can actually have any width of frame around the outer rectangle part or cut it right into your card base if desired.

I wanted the background die to fit on a 5 x 7 card, so I trimmed around the edges of the outer rectangle leaving just enough room to adhere some 1/8th inch score tape to it.  This is how it looked after I trimmed around the edges:

For the flowers, I used Dee's Distinctively Secret Garden Flower 1 and Flower 3.

I cut the Flower 3 with white cardstock and cut the Flower 1 with pink cardstock, then inked the centers with Aged Mahogany distress ink.

You only get the stems in this die set, not the flowers.

I wanted some leaves that really looked like cone flower leaves, so I used the Sue Wilson Maidenhair Ferns.

To finish off my card, I adhered a Sue Wilson Classic 3D Itty Bitty Bow.

    1. Thanks for the seeds offer, Donna. I have a lot of these flowers in my gardens. Thing is, I buy them in oranges and yellows as plants but they all turn purple the next year. Must be the soil ph like how it affects hydrangeas also? I appreciate your kind offer though.
