Flowering Branch

Hi it's Connie again here today to share a spring card.

If you're like me you are enjoying all the beautiful blooming trees, so I just had to capture that in a spring birthday card for a friend.

I love the Memory Box Woodland Branch die because you can use it in so many ways and you can have it bare or add as many leaves as you want, in any size you want too.  I decided to use the Memory Box Grove leaves for my branch today. For the flowers I used the bigger set of flowers from the Taylored Expressions Arbor Accessories die set.  The big cardinal is from the Cheery Lynn Designs Feathered Friends die set, there are 4 different birds that come in this set. Finished it off with Memory Box Happy Birthday garland .  Added a couple small cardinals perched on the garland from the Poppystamps Cheery Cardinals die set.  You may recognize the little cardinals I used them on my first project I did for the design team.

For the background I just cut a piece of cardstock with my scalloped scissor and then took my Tumbled Glass Distress ink and sponged the sky.

My tips:
Add details with your markers as I did with the cardinals eye and beak. I added a little bit of darker red chalk to his wing.  Isn't the details on these birds terrific and all in the set are that way.  I've also added a bit of Fruit punch stickles to the inside of the flowers for a bit of shimmer.

Another tip is when you have small pieces to apply to a project like the little leaves, run a strip of the paper or card stock you are using through your Xyron and then cut using your die, peel off the backing with your nails or your piercing tool like in the picture below and add them to your project.

All links to the dies are in the description above.

  3. Great scene Connie. I especially like how you made the soft looking clouds in the background and your tip on how to make them. Those little flowers look just like the flowers on the white cherry blossom trees around my neighborhood. Thanks for sharing your inspiration.

  4. Wow! Gorgeous card, Connie! I am in awe of all those tiny pieces being impeccably placed into your beautiful scene! (thanks for showing how the blooming branch came together with the emerging leaves!). The sky is also quite lovely - it reminds me of our Florida sunshiny skies! That happy birthday banner with the scalloping is wonderful! I've not seen it before. Darling touch to put the cardinals on either side of the banner! hugs, de
