Seasonal Treat Boxes

Hi, fellow crafty friends. It's Julie with you today from Muddy Paws & Inky Fingers. I am pleased to be starting out the new term!  You are going to be seeing some great inspiration here from a talented group of crafters, so enjoy the ride!

I like making treat boxes to take to my friends in the nursing home where I worked for 33 years.  They love seeing my homemade creations, and a little bit of chocolate often hits the spot.  When I saw this versatile Small Box from Leane Creatif, I knew I would get a lot of use out of it.  Here are what they look like completed:

They are each large enough to hold approximately 3 chocolate kisses, so they are fairly small.  I used a 6x6 piece of paper for each of these.

Here's a picture of the supplies I used on these:

You can see a picture of the die, along with all the extras that come with it.  You can make a Santa box, a bride and groom box, and a sheep.  I got this on one of the Dies R Us special orders, so it's not currently available.  Sign up for the Dies R Us newsletter so you hear about these fun special orders and you won't miss out on these great specials.   You can see some other dies I used, too, and I'll explain them as I go.

Here's a picture of everything after I got it die cut.  I cut out enough goodies for 3 boxes, then embellishments for each box.

You may have noticed how the boxes curving in.  I curled them like they were ribbon in order to get them to look better.  Otherwise, they sort of collapsed in on themselves.  Here's a photo of just one of them, with the edges curling in:

The bats on this box are a Spellbinders die, but these small bats from Impression Obsession would work just as well.

This box is embellished with another Spellbinders die, but this Cat Set by Impression Obsession would work great.

Each box is held together at the top with twine or ribbon.  I found it a little easier to thread twine through the holes.
Not everyone celebrates Halloween, so I made an Autumn treat box, too.  This box is embellished with fall leaves, cut from the Yvonne Creations Fabulous Fall - Autumn Leaves Collection

I hope you enjoyed your visit and that I was able to inspire you to use your dies, create a project, and come play along with us at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog for your chance to win a gift voucher to the Dies R Us Store.  A new challenge begins on the 1st and 15th of every month.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Pinterest too.

Happy Thanksgiving Place Setting

To those readers in the US, it's nearly Thanksgiving.  This is Julie with you today from Muddy Paws & Inky Fingers with a way to make your Thanksgiving table look just a bit more festive:

I created these with several products in the Dies R Us store.  I'll show pictures and links at the end of this post for your convenience.

Here's all the supplies:

I created the pocket for the silverware and napkin by using an 11 1/2 x 4 inch piece of card stock.  I scored it at 4.5 inches, and glued to that score line.

I used 2 of the middle sized frames (ones that I thought fit on the front of the silverware holder the best) on this project.

I computer generated my sentiment.  Here's how it looked when I cut one out with the label:

I'll end with a close up of one of the place setting holders:

Here's the list of supplies, as promised:

Thankful, Grateful, Blessed -- a Thanksgiving Card

Autumn greetings, fellow crafters.  It's Julie with you today from Muddy Paws & Inky Fingers.  Its Veterans Day today, and I'd like to thank those of you who have served our country.  We owe you a huge debt of gratitude.  I am grateful for each of you!

I love the colors of Fall, and they often work their way into my crafting projects.  Today, I have a card I'm giving away for Thanksgiving, and it's loaded with Autumn elements and colors:

Let me show you the supplies I used, then I'll list them at the end of this post:

I cut out both sizes of the Square Tangled Frames by Frantic Stamper.  I used one to frame my sentiment and one to frame my Autumn elements.  Then, I chose some earth tone colored card stock, and cut out a bunch of leaves from the Yvonne Creations Fabulous Fall Collection - Autumn Leaves.  Here's everything cut out and ready to assemble:

I love all the detail in the Autumn Leaves cutting dies.  They're beautiful when they're cut out!

Here's a close up so you can see them better:

I had a great time creating the card for today's post.

Here's a list of the supplies, as promised!
