Dies R Us: A Lawn Fawn Merry Christmas

Hi everyone! I'm so happy you could visit the blog today. I'm Monica of HeartcraftPaper and I'm going to be showing you how to make a Lawn Fawn inspired Christmas card in today's post. I have always loved Lawn Fawn products for their simplicity and the ability to truly combine them with any of their stamps and dies.

I was inspired to make a card with the How You Bean stamp set. I have had this in my stash for some time and have not really had much of an opportunity to use it until now. I recently acquired the Christmas add on for the set and I thought that this would be perfect for a Christmas in July project.

Scallop Pinpoint Circle Cut Out - Memory Box

Blueprint Sketch - Distress Oxide

Red - Doodlebug Gingham Paper

Black Cardstock

White Cardstock

Grey Cardstock

A2 Card Base

Green Cupped Sequins

Copic Markers

Acetate

1/8" Double Sided Tape

1/4" foam tape

Liquid Glue

White Embossing Powder

Embossing Ink

Black Ink

Medium Glue Dots

Blending Brush

To begin, you will die cut the jar and shaker jar cut outs. You will use the How You Bean Shaker Add On dies for this.

Stamp out the cookie grouping from the How You Bean Christmas Cookie Add On. For this you will have to use a stamping platform to make the job easier.

Next, I used the How You Bean Stamps to stamp out the jar image onto my gingham cut out and the lid onto a grey cardstock, that I then cut out using the coordinating dies.

Time to color up the images: G17, G67, Y08, YR 23, R49, R14, E31, E23, E27, C2, C4

To Make the shaker element. You will need to die cut a piece of acetate using the How You Been Coordinating Dies. Adhere this to the back of the gingham cut out using double sided tape.

Now, using 1/4" foam tape, create a well for the sequins to move about in. Make sure not to leave spaces too open that sequins can easily pass through. Adding green sequins to the center of the colored image, adhere the well on top.

This is what the shaker element should look like.

The final touch to this piece will be to add the lid to the jar. Adhere with liquid glue.

With my main image stamped and die cut, I moved onto the background by die cutting a circle about 1" from the top of a white 4.25" x 5.5" cardstock. I liked this die because of the pinpoint details it has on the outer side of the cut.

Through the die cut, I wanted some color to show. Blend in some color using Blue Print Sketch Distress Oxide on a 4.25" x 5.5" white cardstock. Adhere this down to the A2 card base using double sided tape.

With the blending complete, its time to adhere the circle out on top. Using foam tape, layout enough to give support to the cut out and adhere down to the blended piece.

Adhere the shaker piece into the center of the cut out using liquid glue.

With the major elements all in place. All that's really left is the sentiment and some small embellishments. First stamp out the sentiment: Peace, Joy, Love (and cookies) out on to black cardstock with embossing ink. Using white embossing powder, heat it up using an air gun.

Cut out the sentiment so that you have two long thin strips of black cardstock. Get as close to the font as possible. Then cut the strip diagonally at the end of the sentiment. Adhere the sentiment to the card so that the Peace, Joy, Love is just below the cut out and the (and cookies) is below the Peace, Joy, Love sentiment.

Down to the final piece. Adding on some sequin embellishments. I used 5 sequins to embellish the upper right corner and the lower left, above the sentiment. I used glue dots to adhere them down.

Here is the final project completed. It's a simple card that allows the main focus to be the shaker element. The blended coloring on a white background creates this focus.
