A Summer Stay In Touch card

Happy Monday Dies R Us fans!  Kathleen here with a clean and simple card to "stay in touch" or even a birthday card by changing the sentiment.  What says summer more that blue gingham and red Geraniums!

To make this card I first die cut all the pieces for the Geranium 6 times by using 2 layers of red cardstock for the petal pcs. and flower base. Use two layers of green cardstock for the leaves.  Run these two layer sandwiches  through your cutting machine only 3 times for the petals and leaves and once for the base pc.

You'll end up with a bunch of parts like this.  I added a little red ink to the leaf edges.  Now use flower shaping tools to create shape and dimension to these flower and leaf parts:

Next, cut one of "Basket" die from light brown cardstock and lightly go over it with ink or as I did with raw umber Panpastel.

Next and using the second largest die from the nested die set below, cut one oval from white cardstock:

Using the largest die from the set below and the same red cardstock you choose for the "Geranium" petals, cut one red scalloped oval:

Adhere the white oval to the red oval.  Now adhere the "gathering basket" to the ovals.  I used my thumbs to sort of give shape to the basket and using glue started with the bottom edge then pushing the sides into the center just a tad to make the "basket" have dimension and left the top edges free to insert the "Geraniums".

Assemble two of the geraniums and tuck into the basket.  The third assembled Geranium I glued to the center front of the basket.  I created the sentiment "Just For You" on my computer and cut it out with the smallest die from this set:

The finished card measures 6 x 6.5".  Make a white card base by scoring a 12 x 12" pc. of white cardstock at 6".  Fold at the score line and trim to 6 x 6.5".  Cut a rectangle mat out of blue gingham cardstock that measures 5 x 5.75" and adhere, centered, to the base card.  Adhere the basket full of Geraniums on ovals centered over the blue gingham and your done!
