Merry Christmas Wreath

One of my favorite things is when I can stretch my crafting supplies - I love it when I can make something intended for something else, another holiday or project and shape it into something entirely different.  Today I am sharing a card I made with what I'd call a spring die, after I turned it into a holiday die.

What I Used to Make my Card:
Red Card Base
Small Fairytale Oval, Memory Box, #99172 {Calla Oval Wreath will work also!}
Poinsettia Mini, PoppyStamps, #1971 {could use this poinsettia set}
Stitched Oval Stax, MFT/Die-Namics, #MFT-521
Sentiment, Merry Christmas, My Sentiments Exactly! #G545
Wendy Vecchi Ink in Red Geranium
White and Green Card
Red Glitter Card
Stickles in Gold

I got the idea for this card after I spied the Poinsettia dies in the Dies R Us store.  I had to have them and the flower is so tiny and cute, I hope to be able to incorporate it into some other projects.  First, I cut the Small Fairytale Oval out of green card.  Then I set to work on the poinsettias.  I cut each layer out of red glitter card {there are three layers to each flower}, glued them together, then added the gold stamen.  The gold Stickles came out really dark and I was thinking I might have to make the flowers all over again, but once it dried it was fine.

Once the poinsettia flowers were dry, I added them to the Small Fairytale Oval.  I trimmed some of the green flora to accommodate the flowers and also the
sentiment. The sentiment I chose fit just so even after I trimmed the inside of the oval a bit, so in order to ensure that I'd get the Merry Christmas in the right spot I taped the oval with washi tape around the sentiment while I glued it.  You can see the washi tape right under the ink; I used a scrap piece of white card since I knew I was going to cut the entire design out again.  Before I go further, I have to gush about the Red Geranium Wendy Vecchi ink.  In my opinion, it is the truest red ink I've found.  You may not be able to tell with the sentiment being so thin, but it is the only ink I use on my holiday projects that call for red ink.  Plus, it's archival so it dries permanent on most surfaces and it's waterproof.  I don't care for tomato red or orange reds when I need a true deep red.  Enough about the ink.

When the oval dried around my sentiment, I cut it out using one of the Stitched Oval Stax dies and adhered it to a red card base.  This is all part of my attempt to be a bit more clean and simple with my card designs.  I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and are enjoying the holiday season!

I do hope you will continue to join us at the Dies R Us Inspiration blog - we are there through the holidays {and EVERYDAY!} with tons of brilliant inspiration! Fondly, Christi

Floral Hello

Hi everyone! I love all the texture on this card; plus, I feel like I sort of "re-purposed" a die. I hope you enjoy my card.

What I Used to Make this Card:
White Card Base
White Cardstock
Various Colored Cardstock
Green Cardstock
Darice Floral Vines Embossing Folder, 1218115 (got mine at ConsumerCrafts)

The Butterfly Wreath
First thing I did was cut out out the wreath die in green, thinking that I would attached the flowers from the Floral Confetti and the green would be the stems and leaves. Well, let me tell you, I ended up with a huge amount of flowers; in fact, you will be seeing a card I made with the leftovers very soon.

Once I had my flowers and wreath cut I worked on my craft mat so that any glue leaking wouldn't be an issue, since I knew I'd be gluing things in places they technically didn't belong.  It took me days to get the placement of the flowers where I wanted them (please don't take me literally - I typically work on a few projects at once, so when I say days I really mean some time each day, for a few days.  Clear as mud?) but I finally did, cleverly covering all the butterflies, and I even snuck a heart into the design.

Placing the flowers
Setting the wreath aside to dry fully overnight, I wasn't sure what else I was going to do to the card.  I could of left the card alone after I placed the wreath on it,  but I felt a bit more was needed. Using white card I embossed a piece that was about 5 1/4" x 4" using the Floral Vines Embossing folder.  Liking what I saw, I still felt there was one thing missing.  I had the Hero Arts Stamp & Cut set on my desk (ok, truthfully, I KNEW it was on my desk but it took me a few minutes a while to find it.  Once I did, I used the die to cut out "hello" in lavender cardstock.  This card is so bright and cheerful in real life, I'm very pleased with the outcome.
Another Look

Project Instructions:
Happy New Year. So to start off the year, I wanted something soft and gentle. So I decided to make a CAS card Whispers of Love. Cut out 5x5 card base. Found some soft pastel paper, I used the Die-namics Stitched Square Stax to frame center of paper. I double the frame to appear like a shadow box frame. I then added the Cheery Lynn Fanciful flourish over the frame with some pearls that are colored a soft yellow. Added a flower at end of the Flourish and finished off with the sentiment.

Happy Birthday Floral

Good Monday Morning, Donna Phelan here.
Today I have a Birthday card to share with you!

My card uses a beautiful Happy Birthday die not available, but there are a couple in the Dies R Us Store that would work really well with this design.

OR

I ran my white base card stock through my Big Shot using a Swiss Dots Embossing folder to add texture.  And then I cut out the center with a Die-Namics Stitched Rectangle die.

Another comparable choice would be the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles

I layered my Happy Birthday die 3 times in black, green and white card stocks.  By adding the black on the base it POPS off of the pretty pink Designer Paper.  Plus it adds a little bit more oomph!

I really have fallen in love with this Dogwood Blossom Corner by Poppystamps.  It's so delicate and beautiful!  I cut it once from green card stock and then again in pink, snipping the blossoms off and  layering them right on to the green.  Again, adding a bit more oomph.

Thanks for popping in!

Enjoy~~

Please remember, each and every day of the month there's a new inspiration sample shared here on the blog by this fabulous design team.  Please be sure to pop in regularly.

You're So Tweet!

Good Monday Morning!

Donna Phelan here again with another card to share with you!

You know I love a pretty tag.....and I just adore a pretty tag ON a card!

I used the Die-Namics, Stitched Traditional Tags, layered in Brown and Pale Blue card stock as my base.  Then I created my little garden scene complete with birdhouses, fence and feathered friends.  I die cut my Picket Fence by Amy Design in White card stock.....because every house, bird or otherwise, needs a little white picket fence!

Using the sweetest little Bird House set from Paper Smooches I die cut card stock in several different colors.  I  also added some texture to one using a Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.  Laying out each piece, I adhered them and topped with my fence.  Of course, it needed something more.  Enter the handy dandy Foliage 2 dies also by Paper Smooches.  I must say that these particular dies are VERY versatile!  I have used them in flower bouquets, as grasses, like here, I have even made a wreath using only them.....lots of them!  They really are one of my 'go to' dies....a MUST have in any craft room!

Another little Die-Namics Stitched Traditional Tag, sentiment stamped in Real Red ink, topped with 2 Adhesive Pearls.

Accents include, Eyelet, Button, Twine and a Natural Fiber Ribbon in Green.  The large tag is popped up using 3 Dimensionals.

This could be used for a New Home, Thank You or All Occasion card.  I think the recipient would enjoy this piece of Happy Mail!

Here's what I used:

Enjoy~~

Garden Zinnias

Good Monday Morning!

Donna Phelan back again to share my garden view.

Today's creation uses many beautiful dies.
Check out the Dies R Us Store for all your die-crafting needs!

I saw this fantastic sentiment online and knew I could use it with all of my lovely dies!  They fit together perfectly!  I started with my sloping grass hills, created with Die-Namics Snow Drifts.  Who says they are only for winter use?

Then came the forest backdrop.  The Birch Trio by Memory Box  topped with some beautiful leaves by Paper Smooches, Foliage 1.  I have only thought of bare Birch Trees, I think the bark is their beauty.  But, of course, they have leaves!

The Amy Design Picket Fence was just what I wanted to fence in my pretty little garden.  This particular die is no longer available in the Dies R Us Store, however there are many others available HERE!  Pretty dies come and go so quickly, when you see what you like, fill your cart!

Now for some creative FUN....the flowers!

I adore these beautiful blossoms AND they were just a lot of fun to make!

Garden Notes Zinnia by Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Their detail is amazing!  My Zinnias are not in bloom as yet, but I am hoping they look as pretty as these when they do flower!

When there is no sunshine and rain is falling at least I know
I can always garden.....in paper.....isn't that the best?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Enjoy~~
