Christmas Birds

Hello crafting friends. Lena here today sharing another Christmas card with you.

As you know by now, I'm a huge fan of Marianne Design dies and when Dies R Us have their Special Order Sales, I tend to buy more than my fair share :-) If you love international dies or are just looking for some to complete the dies you already have, the best way to know about these amazing sales is to subscribe to the Dies R Us Newsletter.

So using one of Marianne's newest dies, Petra's Winter Circle, I cut out all the layers in the different colours that I had planned.

This die is gorgeous and comes with a few embellishment pieces.

After die cutting and embossing them, and while the card stock is still in the dies, I used Memento Desert Sand to add a bit of shading.

Once that was done and I had all my bits and pieces together, it was very easy and quick to assemble the card.

I picked a small greeting stamp and curved it on the stamping block so that it would take the same curve as the greeting space on the banner of the die. I could have stopped right here, but felt that I wanted to add something to the bottom of the card to balance it out.  So I grabbed another few dies, listed below, and made the little poinsettia arrangement.  I added a few gems here and there and adhered the image, which is from a die cutting sheet by Amy Design, called Warm Christmas Feelings.  For the inside, I used the fancy circle from the die to cut out the circle.  The stamped greeting from the Festive Greetings stamp set by Creative Expressions.

Here is a list of the crafty supplies used,
each linked to the Dies R Us store  for your convenience.

Ballerina Birthday

Happy Monday crafting friends. I hope it's the start to an awesome week for you!
Did you catch the sales that Dies R Us recently had on international dies?  I hope so, because I have a sweet card to share with you today using several of them.

If you didn't catch this last sale, don't worry too much, I'll tell you how to get them next time.  Dies R Us runs a big sale on international dies every now and then. During these times, you will find dies from companies such as Marianne Designs, Lea'bilities, Nellie Snellen, and Joy Crafts among others. The best way to know about these fabulous sales is to subscribe to the Dies R Us Newsletter.  When you go to the store's home page,  scroll down to the bottom.  There you will find a box where you can enter your email address and be put on their mailing list.  You really won't want to miss these sales :-)

So now let me show you how this card came together:

I started by die cutting and embossing the card frame, Petra's Amazing Circle, and the ballerina, Balet Dancer from Lea'bilities.  While the cuts were still in their dies, I sponged the embossed areas with Memento Angel Pink ink.

Next, I used copic markers to colour the ballerina, and using tulle and pearls made and decorated her tutu.

Lastly, I die cut and embossed the tulip bouquet. I made the flowers a shade darker by using a copic marker.  All that was left to do was to adhered all the layers, bits and pieces together to create the card.  Since there were so many delicate pieces, I used a Fineline Applicator bottle to apply my glue.I did emboss the center circle with a Swiss Dot embossing folder to add a little texture behind the ballerina.

I'm going to give this card to my little granddaughter, who turns 5 in a couple of weeks.  She loves her "dance classes"!  She does ballet and tap and is the cutest little dancer ever! Yes, this is Grandma Lena, so I am allowed to think so :-)

Here is a quick recap of the materials I used.  You won't find the international dies in the store right now, but you can put them on your wish list and as soon as you get the notification of the Special Order Sales, you can place your order. They are very good quality dies, cut beautifully and are very reasonably priced with the specials that Dies R Us offers.

And of course, if you don't want to wait for these special offers, you can simply enter the items you're looking for in the "search" bar in the store's website and you'll find lots of different options.

That is it from me for today, crafting friends. I hope you enjoyed your visit and that I was able to inspire you to use your dies, create a project, and come play along with us at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog for your chance to win a gift voucher to the Dies R Us Store.  A new challenge begins on the 1st and 15th of every month.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Pinterest too.

Christmas Birds

Hello crafting friends. Did you catch the wonderful special order sales Dies R Us had last week?
It's Lena here today, sharing two pretty Christmas cards with you, that use international dies.

In case you don't know, every so often, Dies R Us runs a big sale on international dies. During these times, you will find dies from companies such as Marianne Designs, Lea'bilities, and Joy Crafts among others. The best way to know about these fabulous sales is to subscribe to the Dies R Us Newsletter.  When you go to the store's home page,  scroll down to the bottom.  There you will find a box where you can enter your email address and be put on their mailing list.

When these sales come along, I tend to splurge a little and grab more than just a few dies :-) This first card that I'm sharing with you today is made with a die by Marianne Designs called Petra's Botanical Star.  Isn't it gorgeous? And the best thing ... it can be used all year round, not just for Christmas. It all depends on the image and embellishments you use :-) The Christmas bird images I'm using today are from a Christmas Bird Cutting/Decoupage sheet that my SIL sent me. They're so beautiful, I knew I had to use pretty dies to showcase them :-)

For the second card, I used a die also from Marianne Designs, this one is called Anja's Circle, and again, just like the first card, this die can be used for any occasion by changing the image and the embellishments.
Another great plus - they're so quick and easy to put together, yet it makes your cards look like you spent hours working on them.

I don't have a pictorial to share with you today, because it really is that simple. Just cut the dies out of which ever card stock you want and add an image, flower or sentiment of your choice to the centre. Then add a few embellishments and you're done :-)

Here is a quick recap of the dies I used for card # 1:

And these are the dies I used for card #2:

For your convenience, I have listed all the important information below, with links to the different sites.

That is it from me for today.  I'll be back next week to share another card, or two, with you.
Till then,

Masculine Birthday

Hello crafting friends and welcome back. Lena here to share a masculine birthday card I made for my brother.

I decided to fancy it up a bit by making it a Spring Fold card, and looking at it now, I think that it can very well be a feminine card too :-) I have a link to a youtube video tutorial on how to make a Spring Fold card, so please click HERE to view it.

I wanted to show you how it folds flat for mailing. It's also not very bulky so it won't add extra postage. This is always an important fact to consider when mailing something overseas.

As you can see, there is plenty of space on the back to add your personal message.

Now for a quick pictorial:

Using the Tiny's Vines and Tiny's Wine Bottle dies, from Marianne Designs, I cut them out and used various inks to create some shading.  I cut out several bunches of grapes because at this point I hadn't decided yet on how to place them on the card. Next I cut out the Arche, also from Marianne Designs, and shaded it too. I visited my friend Google and printed an image of vineyards in Bordeaux in France. It was the perfect scene to place behind my arch.
Remember that every so often, Dies R Us runs a big sale on international dies. I cut the glasses out of white card stock and out of vellum. This die is from the Wine Bottle & Glass set from Lea'bilities. Using copic markers, I coloured the red wine on the white card stock and then used Glassy Accents to adhere the vellum layer on top.

I cut out the vines twice. I used the first cut as is and snipped the other to get just the right amount of leaves to fill in between. I used a pencil to roll them one way and then the other for a little dimension.

After all the bits and pieces were complete, it was just a matter of  grabbing some glue and placing all the elements together to create the scene I was looking for.

Here's a quick recap of all the materials I used to put this card together:
