Banners and Roses

Roses And Hello, Just Go.

Welcome back!  I'm so glad you could join me for today's craft.  I have a cute little hello card.  I wanted to send a card to my mother at her nursing home since at this time I can't visit her.  She always loved my hand made cards.  Especially those with flowers.  I recently purchased two set of dies from the European sale that I felt would really make this card just stand out.   I wanted the card to say "Hello" as the sentiment but didn't just want a paper cut out, so I figured why not cross-stitch it out!  Then I thought this may needs some flowers too and why not some paper roses?  Recently Dies R Us had a sale on European dies and these lovelies just jumped out at me.  These items come from time to time so when you see them you jump on them!

Supplies

Embroidery Shapes Dies
Foam Rose Die
White Cardstock
Red Cardstock
Green Cardstock
Small Dots Embossing Folder
Pearl Embellishments
Green Embroidery Floss
Red Embroidery Floss
Black Embroidery Floss
Liquid Glue
1/4" Foam Square
Flower Shaping Tools
1/2" Foam Pad
A7 Card base

It's Bunting Time!

To begin, die cut out 5 of the bunting flags.  Stitch around the flags with black floss.  make sure to keep the banners attached.  Next, cross stitch the letters H-E-L-L-O onto each pennant.   Then make french notes along the letters to emulate roses.

Die cut one large flower, three smaller flowers, 4 of the three petal flowers and 3 of the rolled flower section.  Using a flower shaping tool with an 8 mm head, roll the edges of the flowers and press the center down into the foam pad. Once the flower section are shaped, add a dab of glue to the center of the larges and adhere the next size down and repeat to the three petal flower piece.

Once you have the main part of the rose complete, you will quill roll the the rolled flower section to make a bud.  this will then be glued down to the center of the rose.

For the leaves, you will crease them gently down the center, then roll the edges of the leaf and adhere them to the rose to your liking.

With the flowers all complete, it's time to assemble the card.  First Emboss a piece of white card stock (6.75" x 5.25") and then take your print cardstock (6.5" x 5") and adhere it down to the A7 card base.

Using 1" foam tape, adhere the white embossed piece to the card base ensuring yu have a 1/8" boarder all around.

Line the back of the banner pieces with foam dots or squares and adhere it across the card from one corner to the other side so that it is at an angle.  Once that is done, it's time to add the flowers.  I dried to keep my flowers to on of the lower corners.  Using quilling paper in green, I made a view vine spirals to add to the flower bouquet here and there.

Finally embellish with some self-adhesive pearls in clusters of three.  Done, a simple and clean card with lots of beauty.

Thanks for visiting the bog.  I hope you find some inspiration.  Maybe you'll visit the Dies R Us Shop in the hopes of finding some really great deals on dies and stamps.

Two Hobbies in One!

Happy Monday crafting friends. Lena here today to share something special with you, especially for those who enjoy cross-stitching and card making! How about combining both to produce a very unique card?

Here are close up photos of this card using two of my favourite hobbies 😃

Isn't it fun? I was inspired to make this card by a card that my sister-in-law, Marian, gave my son for his birthday. Hers had cross stitched smiley faces, and trust me when I tell you that the possibilities are endless.  In case you're a novice at cross stitching, you can download lots of patterns from the Marianne Design website and also find lots of them on Pinterest.

For the cross stitching template I used the small Cross Stitch die from Marianne Designs. This is die number CR1454.  There is also one that is larger (CR1466) and a cicular one (CR1465).  In addition to this die, I also used the Small Snowflakes dies from Art Impressions, to add the little snowflakes to the sentiment cards.  I used these because they were the only ones I had on hand, but the Mini Snowflakes from Lawn Fawn would have worked beautifully on this card too.  The patterns were all downloaded from the Marianne Designs site, here.

In case you don't know how to go about purchasing Marianne Designs dies, let me tell you that  Dies R Us runs a big sale on international dies periodically.  During these times, you will find dies from companies such as Marianne Designs, Lea'bilities, Nellie Snellen, and Joy Crafts among others. The best way to know about these fabulous sales is to subscribe to the Dies R Us Newsletter.  When you go to the store's home page,  you'll find a teal box on the left hand side of your screen. All you have to do is enter your email address and subscribe, then you'll receive the store newsletters and be up to date on all the sales, specials and pre-orders that Dies R Us has to offer.

That is it from me for today, crafting friends.  I'll be back next Monday to share another project with you.  I hope you enjoyed your visit and that I was able to inspire you to use your dies, create a project, and come play along with us at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog for your chance to win a gift voucher to the Dies R Us Store.  A new challenge begins on the 1st and 15th of every month.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Pinterest too.
