Split Card Design

Tracy here today with a different type of card. It's called a Split Card Design that I found on YouTube. These types of cards are perfect for die cuts. The top piece of the card is actually split in half and held together with the die cuts so that it opens all together.

I started by cutting out the clouds and grass using both cardstock and vellum. You don't have to use vellum, I just liked the look of it. I used stitched curves dies for the clouds and plain curves for the grass. Once you've got them cut out you need to fold over the left side of the die cuts and position it where you want it on a coordinating piece of cardstock which will be the inside of the card. The flaps you created will then be glued to the back left of the cardstock.

Once that was done I cut out my flamingos.

I put my flamingos together and then positioned them on the top of the card so that the heads were adhered to the clouds and the feet adhered to the grass. This holds your two split pieces together so you can open the card as one piece. Then you will need a base to adhere everything to and it also covers up where you adhered the cloud and grass flaps. I stamped and embossed the sentiment and then used a black glaze pen to draw the birds and also the eyes of the flamingos. I then went one step further and die cut another set of flamingos and added them to the inside of the card directly behind the flamingos on the front of the card. It dresses up the inside and covers up the glue on the vellum.

I hope this makes sense to you but if not you can always check out one of the videos on YouTube. I happen to like the one by Jennifer McGuire.
