Sue Wilson Caribbean Island Collection Background Die

You've probably seen a lot of other Design Team members using this background die from the Sue Wilson Caribbean Collection.  I personally like this die because when I use it, I don't have to do anything else to the background of my card.  The die alone makes a complete background and it's so pretty.  For being such an intricate die, it also cuts out perfectly every time.

Since this die stays on your paper when you cut it out, I decided to cut it right into my card base.  I folded a piece of 8.5 x 11" black cardstock and trimmed it down to fit into my Grand Calibur.  I had to cut off about 1" from the edge to reduce it to 10" instead of 11".

I opened the card base to it's full size, placed the die where I wanted it on the card base and cut it out:

Then I trimmed around the edges of the die so it fit evenly on the card base.  I knew I was going to put white cardstock under it so I used 1/8" double sided tape around the edges of the black die cut and adhered the white panel to it:

I wanted the center oval to be white so I could stamp on it, so I cut out the oval alone with white cardstock, stamped it, then adhered it to the center of the die cut:

I cut some of the foliage and flowers from the Cheery Lynn Floral Bouquet kit (B777), which by the way, has become one of my favorite flower dies.

I cut two of the larger flower in pink and layered them with a piece of foam tape to raise them up a little.  Then I used more foam tape to adhere the top, smaller, white flower and adhered the foliage:

I also wanted to see what this Caribbean Island Collection Background die would look like if I reversed the colors and cut it out of white cardstock and mounted it on a black card base.  This is what it looks like:

They actually don't look all that different, do they?  To me, the white die cut looks lacy and a little more delicate.  To see further details on the cards I made, you can go to my blog.
