One Big Flower (and a bunch of little flowers)

Hello, and welcome to another Monday on our blog of Dies R Us Inspiration!  Today I’ve colored one big flower and die cut a scattering of little flowers.  Why is it that I’ll make and send flower cards all year long, but I wouldn’t send a fall or winter card in the spring or summer?  I love fall cards, but it seems their season is so short.  At any rate, it’s still summer, so a flower card it is!

(Remember, you can always click on the picture for a larger view.)
  • My big flower is from an older Penny Black set called To You.  It’s stamped in guava ink and colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol.  In the flower center and scattered about are Impression Obsession Tiny Flowers and Impression Obsession Leaf Cluster.  Both dies will cut many flowers and leaves all at once, and with die cuts this small you generally will want that.  These are perhaps not the dies that most catch your eye when you’re window shopping, but they’re infinitely practical and useful.
  • The loopy bow is Impression Obsession Large Bow and is one of my go-to dies.   I almost always cut the curly tails off, but see those delicate tendrils curling around the large bloom?   Those are the tails from the bow.   I cut an extra set of tails to get more tendrils.   Pretty!
  • It’s all backed up with some layered cuts from the Sue Wilson Porto die set.  The tag is punched and the leaves of the big flower were made with the older Spellbinders Foliage Shapeabilities.

I was in a glitter mood when I made this.  Don’t you love the sparkle of glitter catching the light?  Oh, and by the way, the pinks on this are not nearly as bright as they appear in the photo.   Funny how every other color is right, but the pink is absolutely shouting at you.

Just a reminder:  The Dies R Us Team A ladies are kicking off a new challenge on the Challenge Blog tomorrow.  The theme will be Back to School.  Our Great Outdoors Challenge resulted in some amazing and varied entries.  We were WOW’d!  It’s worth your time just to check out the inspiration to be found in the links, but we’d love it if you’d play along, too.  You might win a gift voucher to the Dies R Us store!

Well, that’s it from me today.  Thanks for stopping in!

Friends . . .

Welcome Friends!
Darlene back with you again to share another quick & easy
creation using dies from our Dies R Us Store!

I recently received my DRU order and was surprised to find this Poppystamps 'Super Squares' die was not exactly what I was expecting!  My bad ... didn't look at the size dimensions offered on our website ... just 'assumed' they were larger.

Poppystamps - Dies - Super Squares (NEW)
But what a wonderful surprise when I simply laid them out onto a piece of designer paper and achieved this AWESOME background.   Now I can think of SO MANY other ways to use this ONE DIE SET!!

By adding a sentiment die cut, my card was complete!  VIOLA!!
The sentiment die I used is Penny Black 'Friends Frame' 51-041 and sorry to say not available in the store at the time of this posting.  BUT, there are TONS of sentiment word dies available from a wide range of companies ... simply go to our STORE and in the SEARCH box type the word you are looking for!

This card literally came together in about 10 minutes!
Minus the time spent coloring & fussy cutting my Sassy Studio Designs image.

Remember to come join in the fun at our
A new challenge on the 1st and 15th of each month.
I hope you'll come join us!!
Have a fabulous weekend!!

Un-frog-gettable

Hi there, it's time for me to share with you another
card using the wonderful dies carried in the

I went with something a bit different today,
as I seem to make mostly "girlie" cards
(my favorite to make)
and went with one for the "boys"

If you grew up with brothers or had/have sons of your own,
I think you can relate to this card..lol!

I remember growing up with my brother and his endless
"critters" he brought home to "torment" his sisters with.
Even to put a snake in the washing machine!

So my card is a bit of a childhood memory,
starting with a great and detailed pocket die
from Frantic Stamper called Jeans Pocket.
Can't you see this being a "girlie" pocket, too?

I cut the pocket from a blue paper and added brads
for a more authentic "boys" jeans pocket look!

The frogs you see leaping out of the pocket
are from PoppyStamps Pond Frogs
which are no longer in stock, BUT
did you know Dies R Us has their own brand of dies?
They sure do and you could use Dies R Us Frogs.
I cut the frogs from a handmade mulberry paper,
then used an embossing folder for their "warts"

Make sure and visit us Monday-Friday for more Dies R Us inspiration.
Join us at our Dies R Us challenge blog for a chance to win
a gift voucher to the Dies R Us store!

Thank you for visiting with me!!,

Serene Christmas Scene

Happy Wednesday, friends!

I know it might be hard to concentrate on Christmas cards when the temps outside are this high, but with all the amazing Christmas dies you will find at Dies R Us, this is the perfect time to get a jump start on them before all your favorite dies are gone!  The selection right now is amazing & growing every day.

I gathered 4 of my favorite dies for today's card: Frantic Stamper Evergreen Forest Edger, Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Oval Stackables, Impression Obsession Pine Cone & Fir Branches, and Impression Obsession Deer Trio.  At the present time, the deer die, pine cone and forest edger are out of stock, but if you don't already have some of these dies, just go the the store & type in "deer" and you will find 27 to choose from.  Typing in "pine cone" will give you 11 and "forest" will give you 5 borders!  You may actually find you like some of those better than the ones I chose!  And remember, you can always put your name on our waiting list and be emailed when dies come back in too!  I do it all the time!

Below is a closeup of the beautiful embossing you get with the pine cone die! I popped the top one up with a foam dot for even more dimension.

Don't forget to visit our Dies R Us Challenge Blog!  New challenges begin on the first & fifteenth of every month and you could be the lucky winner of a gift certificate to the amazing store!

Have a fantastic week and I will see you next Wednesday!

Ultra-Clean and Simple Sympathy Cards

Hello, and welcome to Monday!  Today I’m thinking of sympathy cards and how I never seem to have one on hand when I need it.  So I have two to share – the same design concept with only slight variations.  Very simple.   I chose my dies, then covered each card base with designer paper which I felt coordinated nicely.   Arranged the dies and stamped the sentiments and they’re ready to mail.   Now, you could sponge the dies, or stitch, or layer, or pop up the front panel, but the idea is to make it and mail it without delay, and with no concerns as to whether or not it needs extra postage.

  • The die used above is Impression Obsession Wheat.  It’s on ivory cardstock with Anna Griffin designer paper and a Words to the Rescue sentiment.
  • The die used in the card below is Impression Obsession Bird on a Branch.  On this one I used white on white with some very old but very cool designer paper and an older JustRite sentiment.

If by any chance either of these dies are unavailable at the time of this post, do not despair.  The possible substitutes go on and on.  Imagine any type of die for any type of card.   It’s the appearance of a simple embossed design that appeals to me, I think.   Whether in neutrals or in bright, juicy colors. . . just picture it – simple like these, or in the background panel of a more complex card design.   Hmmmm. . . wheels turning. . .

I’m so glad you could pop in today.   Don’t forget to try your hand at winning a Dies R Us gift voucher by playing along at the Challenge Blog.  Currently we’re doing The Great Outdoors.  Use at least one die on your card and link it up.  We’d love to see it!   Have a great day!

Happy Birthday

Hello Dies R Us Friends!
Darlene here and today I have a birthday card to share with you!
WOW!  Those birthday sure seem to come & go a lot faster since I 'grew up' ... LOL!

Have you checked out all the amazing die cutting companies
carried at the Dies R Us Store.  I'm sure you'll find exactly what you are looking for no matter what the occasion!!

Today I decided to rummage through some of my older design
papers, as well as scraps and came up with this combination.
FRUSTRATING as it is!
I must tell you ... the background paper is actually more of a
'peachy' color versus yellow but obviously I could NOT get my camera to
capture that color .. grrr!

The dies that I've used today are:

Have you popped over to see all the new 'holiday dies' available
at the store?  'YOU KNOW WHAT' will be here before you know it
so be sure to get those cards started early to reduce your stress come December!

Star Dust

Hi there!
I have a very quick card to show you today
using one of the new release dies from PoppyStamps
called "Stacked Stars".
Now I hate to say, but at the time of this posting,
this star die just flew out the door,
but if you can't wait for it to return,
try typing Star or Stars into the search button
and you will be amazed at how many there are to choose from.
Heck, I put the links in for you, so it couldn't get any easier!

I first applied a piece of sticky back paper to my gold foil paper,
then cut it out, making it super easy to attach to my base.

Speaking of the base,
I stenciled it with Gold Embossing Paste and
using one of the many stencils in store.
I used Memory Box Texture Splatter Spray,
would be good choices, too...depending on the look you want.

I finished with a gold bow.
I think this would make a great golden anniversary card,
just by adding the numbers.
I am using it for my granddaughters 21st birthday
and on the inside it will say celebrate!

Don't forget to visit our challenge blog,
not only is there great inspiration to see,
but it's loads of fun to join in and maybe win a prize!!

Have a Great Day!!

Hello, again!

It's hard to believe how quickly the summer has gone.  It won't be long before school starts again and these beautiful days are a memory.  I decided I wanted to capture a little of the summer magic for my card for today.  Starting with an adorable digi image from Sassy Cheryl,  I created this cutie with only 3 dies: Memory Box Tiny Tendril (which is currently unavailable, but any one of a number of other leaves would work as well), Elizabeth Craft Designs Bunch of Flowers 4 & Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Square Stackables.

I absolutely love the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Square Stackables dies! The "stitched" look is really popular right now and this set gives you 5 different sizes to play with.  Check out the store for all the wonderful "stitched" effect dies!

Be sure you also check out the Dies R Us Challenge Blog too!  New challenges begin on the first and fifteenth of the month & you could be the winner of a gift card to the store!

I hope you got some great ideas today and are inspired to create something of your own! Enjoy the rest of your week & I will meet you back here next Wednesday!

Life is Heavenly . . .

Happy Tuesday Everyone!
Darlene back again to share another inspirational card with you today!

I love how quickly this card came together.
The first thing I did was create my 'shades of blue' background by using large sponge daubers and 4 different shades of Tim Holtz distress ink.  Then came the MAGIC by overlaying a white die cut panel using the Poppystamps 'Luxe Background' die.

I used a panel of blue cardstock (65# weight) 1/8" smaller than my card base as my mat.  Adhered my colorful background panel then taking another strip of blue card stock, I tore the upper edge and adhered across the bottom.

My sentiment panel is an image from the Crafty Secrets 'Little Blessings' Creative Scraps and the only embellishments I felt were necessary are the birds.
and one of the sitting birds from

Thanks for stopping by today!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead!

Don't forget to check out all the amazing dies available at the Dies R Us Store and please come join in the challenge fun at our Dies R Us Challenge Blog.

Sherri will be here tomorrow to share another wonderful creation using die cuts!

Teddy Bear Baby

Hello!  Well, here we are at Monday again and time for a fresh week of Dies R Us inspiration.  Today I’ve made a baby card using an older Crafter’s Companion set called Bundle of Joy.  It’s a plain fact that I love baby cards and I also love anything swirly and curly, so I put the two together.

My swirls and curls today are Memory Box Big Splash Border.  With such a name you can guess it’s meant to resemble splashing waves, but I thought if I turned it vertically and added some tiny flowers it would make a pretty border for just about any cute image.   My itty bitty flowers are Impression Obsession Tiny Flowers.   This die cuts a mass of flowers all at once, which is definitely a time saver.   All the little pearls in the flower centers were made with a Viva Décor Pearl Pen.  The sweet banner is La-La Land Random Flags w/Hearts Banner.

Thanks for dropping in today!   Enjoy your week!

To Have & To Hold

Hello Dies R Us Friends!
Darlene with you today and I have a fun wedding card to share!
I've recently gotten into the habit of making a quick cut with any of the new dies I purchase, just to see what they look like cut out.  Today's card was a QUICK put together since everything on it had been cut in advance and laying on the craft table.

Dies Used:

I love how this Woodland Oval die cut turned out!
Since the 'center' actually cuts out, I was careful to position the die so that half of it was on the lighter portion of the scrap piece of design paper I was using ... and the other half was on the darker shade.  Then, once cut, I simply TURNED the inner oval and glued it back inside the outside decorative oval.
Doesn't it look pretty??
Such a versatile die!  Three different uses ... both pieces together or each piece individually.  I love when you have that option with ONE die!  It gives you that opportunity to utilize different techniques as I've done using the 'turned center technique' on my card today!

EDIT:  After writing up my post on this card, I finished the inside and would like to share it with you.
I thought the Memory Box 'Precious Wedding Rings' would be the perfect added touch!

I used a Gold Pilot Marker to color the rings, and
a little touch of Diamond Stickles on the 'diamond' added
the needed sparkle!

Be sure to pop over to the Dies R Us Store and check out all the amazing dies available in one convenient location.  The selection is amazing as are the shipping costs.   And, don't forget to come join in the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  A new challenge goes live on the 1st and 15th of each month!  YOU could be the next winner of a Dies R Us store gift voucher!!

Till Next Time . . .

Take Time

Hello Again!
It's Thursday and my day to show you my card for this week!

I really like the fun shaker cards I have been seeing
and they are so easy and fun to make!

For this card I used the largest die in the
Memory Box Open Studio  Stitched Clouds set to cut the window for the shaker.
I used the negative cut, saving the actual die cut cloud for a later use.

I added a few, fun flower sequins to "shake".

I "perched" an Impression Obsession Bird On A Branch
on the outside of the shaker window.

I stamped a sentiment from Flourish's
with Melon Mambo, then cut it out with

A bow was added to finish!

We have a challenge blog you can join us in HERE
and you could be the lucky winner of the random prize.
The Top 3 are chosen as well!

Visit us here Monday - Friday to see more inspiration !

Hello, again!

Once again, it is my turn to share some inspiration with you & today I thought I would use some of the darling garden inspired dies carried by Dies R Us for a cute note card.  If you haven't browsed the store for awhile, you will be amazed at the number of amazing dies that cover virtually any subject you can imagine!

I began this card with an adorable digi image from Mo Manning.  After coloring her, I added the following dies to finish:  Memory Box Stitched Scalloped Circles, Poppy Stamps Greenhouse Watering Cans, Memory Box Groundkeeper Tools & Taylored Expressions Picket Fence.

If you haven't gone to the Dies R Us Challenge Blog, be sure to head there & join in on the current challenge for a chance to win a gift certificate to the store!  New challenges begin on the first & the fifteenth of each month!

Friends and Butterflies

Welcome Back Dies R Us Friends!

Today I have a card to share that came together quite quickly due to this beautiful Spellbinder Nestabilities 5x7 Mystical Embrace die set!
Please be sure to pop over to the Dies R Us Store and check out ALL the amazing dies available for you card creating (or scrapbooking) needs.  There are over 40 companies represented and I'm sure you'll find something you just 'can't live without'!

The butterflies I have used on today's card are currently Out of Stock ... BoBunny 'Flutter Dies'  #12839812 ... but there are several other beautiful butterfly die sets what would work just as well ... for instance, the *New* X-Cut Butterflies ... or perhaps the beautiful Sue Wilson Designs 'Magical Butterflies.

I have a friend is LOVES butterflies and I think she's really going to love this card creation!
The color isn't exactly TRUE ... it's more of a bright pink!  But for the life of me, I could NOT get my camera to photograph the true color!  I'm sure it's an adjustment of some sort on my camera but for today you'll just have to use your imagination and visualize this card is pretty pink and medium blue ribbon.  Which are the actual color hues ... sorry!  LOL!

Please stop back tomorrow when Sherri will WOW you with her creation!  And, don't forget to come join us at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.

Thanks for the visit!

O Holy Night

Yes, it’s a snowy Christmas card in the middle of summer, but I’m just in love with my new Memory Box Grand Forest Archway and was looking for ways to use it.    The combination of this die with Power Poppy’s O Holy Night was simply irresistible.   I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this might be my favorite Christmas card I’ve made to date.

If this die is unavailable you might also like to see the Medium Forest Archway.   They’re the same A2 size overall, but the Medium Archway has more branches overhead, so the open framed area is smaller, which may be preferable in some cases.   I think either one would work with most images.

So, what I did here was die cut in white, then stamp over it in gray ink with a retired Stampin’ Up! Weathered background.   Hoping to achieve more dimension without popping up the frame, I cut the die four times and glued all the layers together.   The bottom layer is cut from navy cardstock. I figured if it showed it would add to the nighttime look of the scene.   However, I somehow got all the layers fitted perfectly.   Ever notice how Memory Box die cuts slip out of the die so easily?   Sure makes it nice!

I added flocking for snow and glitter for sparkle in the moonlight. Coloring was done with Copic markers.

Hop on over to the Dies R Us store if you’re looking to do some die shopping, and if you play along with any of the current challenges you might get lucky and win a gift voucher to put toward your next purchase.   The current theme is Summertime Fun.  That covers a whole lot of territory, and if you’re using a die, heck, link it up!  See you again soon!

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

Hello Dies R Us Friends!
Darlene with you today and NO!  I'm not really ready for snow,
But, as you know, Christmas is only four and a half months away, and it's certainly not too early to start thinking about those holiday cards.

There are some amazing new holiday/winter dies available this year at the Dies R Us store and you'll want to pop over, check 'em out and get your order in ... they are flying off the shelves!

With simply THREE dies I created this card and I love the outcome!
THIS just might be this years holiday card ... but done with different color base cards.

The dies I have used are:

I've used pop dot behind the trees to add a little dimension and freehand the sentiment across the bottom of the card.  MAN!  I need to practice my penmanship!  I didn't realize how bad this looked  ... yikes!  Guess if I'm going to use my own handwriting I need to 'take my time!'

Just a reminder that you still have time to join in the current challenge at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog ... theme is: SUMMERTIME FUN!

Thanks for popping in ... be sure to come back tomorrow when Sherri will have another AMAZING creation to share!
Till then . . .

"B" Is For Baby

Hello and Happy Thursday!!

It has rolled around to another Thursday again
and it is my time to show you a bit of inspiration!

We have a new great "grand-baby" that is just a few weeks old.
Which must of put me in the baby mood,
as that is what this week's card is all about..."babies"

I got in my snippets bag of pink scraps and
machine stitched a few pieces down.

I loved the little alphabet print paper that says
"I love you" on it...as who doesn't love a baby...right??

I used the cutest die from PoppyStamps called Baby Socks.
It was cut twice from cream card stock
then I added tiny bows on each.

The sentiment is a "B" for baby,
perfect for me as the new baby's name is "Bostinn"
so it will do double duty when I send her the card!

It was stamped, then cut with Memory Box Open Studio Stitched Layers.

Did you know that if an item is "out of stock",
you can click on the tab "put me on the waiting list"
and an email will automatically be sent when back in stock?
Try it, it works great and you are not obligated at all,
it is just a courteous thing!

You can join in our challenges by visiting our

Come back here Monday - Friday to see daily inspiration
from the Design Team using various dies,
you won't be disappointed!!

Enjoy your Birthday!

Hello, friends!

Time again for my turn at posting a little bit of inspiration.  I'm keeping it very simple today!  I have used only 2 of my favorite dies on this card:  Memory Box Stitched Rectangle Layers (a must have die!) and Wild Rose Studio Olivette Corner (one of my favorite corners!).  Since the digi image I chose was a simple one from A Day For Daisies, I didn't want to get too fussy with the card and let the image speak for itself.  By adding just the right dies, you can turn any image into something fantastic with little effort on your part!

If you are new to using dies in your crafts, don't feel overwhelmed with the choices out there!  Begin by adding some basic shapes to your collection and then add all the "bells & whistles" as you go along.  Sometimes all it takes is just a photo of a card to make you realize you want a particular die!  I can't tell you how many I have ended up adding to my own collection after seeing my team mate's cards!

Be sure you head over to the Dies R Us Challenge Blog too!  A new challenge just began the first of the month and you could win a gift card to the fabulous store!

Until next week, create something that makes you happy!

Best Wishes

Hello, there, and happy Monday!  Today I’d like to share how I spent my Saturday morning.  I simply wanted to use a gorgeous new die from a recent Dies R Us shopping trip and the project evolved on its own into a wedding card.   I don’t currently need a wedding card, but it can’t hurt to have one in reserve, can it?

This is a 5 x 7 card.  I usually make A2, but I find if I’ve got the right stuff to fill the space I like the larger size, particularly for so momentous an occasion as a wedding.   The die I couldn’t live without is the beautiful Sue Wilson Gemini Die – Orion.   It’s currently out of stock because apparently I’m not the only one who loves it.  No worries.   If you love it, too, put yourself on the waiting list and I guarantee you’ll get an email as soon as it comes in.    Perhaps you’d fancy one of the other Gemini borders, so for your convenience I’ll link you to all of them here.   Good luck trying to choose just one!

To help fill up the space I used an older Spellbinders die – Labels Twenty – as a base, and embossed it with a Swiss Dot folder.   I stamped my image on one of the Spellbinders Elegant Ovals and colored with Copic markers.  For accent I cut two Spellbinders Sprigs and positioned them with some additional flowers, a tag, and silver cord.

Join us here for something different every week day.  It’s a great way to become acquainted with dies you didn’t even know existed.  Or you may like to while away some time browsing the categories at Dies R Us – so many different brands in one place and fantastically fun shopping.   Perhaps you’d like to win a gift voucher to Dies R Us.  If so, link up a card on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.   The current challenge is Summertime Fun.   All you have to do is use that theme and at least one die – any die.

Thanks so much for your time.  Have a happy day!

--- Leslie ---
